I heard on the Overemployed Discord that employers are making a routine of trying to claw back payments retroactively when people get outed as holding two jobs under the flimsy accusation that it's "fraud" since it violates a company policy.

Is there any truth to this? Is this an actual trend or is it bullshit?

Dunno
but why do companies try to make it hard for people to obtain freedom? I thought it was the American dream if you work hard enough you get freedom

it infringes on their freedom to exploit your labor

In the majority of cases you sign all kinds of paperwork as you're onboarding that you would be violating working at another job. This makes it fraud. Most normal people recognize what seems pretty obvious at face value. This is why everyone doesn't have 3 jobs.
