I taught public school for 5 years in Hayward.

I went to get a donut before school at 7-11 and one of my 8th grade students was in the shop grabbing a box of condoms (he stole them).

I remember how we had to move kids to other schools once we found out their gang affiliation, because there would be "red schools" and "blue schools".

We had a lockdown because people were robbing homes in the neighborhood and the police were going to chase them, then the robbers tried getting onto our campus with their guns.

There was a murder in my apartment complex. My roommate came home once saying he got assaulted at the BART station because of the "knockout game".

Thank god I don't live there anymore. Hopefully your parents put you in LPS or Impact.
