I enjoy reading NIV too.
Don't read KJV for anything but it's beautiful prose, it's archaic language and dusty translation and incomplete biblical scholarship leave a lot to be desired. Better exists today.

Interesting. When I had a year to do little else other than contemplate, I read the Gideon Bible cover to cover. I saw a recurring theme of "confusion" being the end and punishment of Man. Later I downloaded the KJV and NIV versions, and Ctrl-F neither has the word "confusion".
I just downloaded the NRSV version (thanks for IDing it), and it uses "confusion" as I recalled.

Indeed. Your best bet the next time that happens, in the New Testament at least, is to go on biblegateway and look at the Mounce Interlinear Bible for the passage in question. It'll have an original greek manuscript and an english translation you can compare it to. Put the greek term into a search engine and derive a gloss from that.

I've two bibles, one about 100 years old (cheap from a thrift store) and a more recent one I saved from a paper disposal. Didn't actually fully read them, because I read the bible completeley once some years prior. If I'm interested into something specific I look it up on the internet, especially Revelation. Funny really, we also have a baby bible and a children bible. My wife found the baby bible in the sort out from a library for free and the children bibel we found on the sidewalk, pristine condition. I swear our young son asked us about reading to him the bible and we found them soon after in order, first the baby version and then the child version. Me reading the later one to him made me again realize some aspects about the bible I've forgotten. There is so much to ponder about. At one point you'll get to the book of Enoch which isn't part of the Bible or religious teachings (except for jews and christians in Ethiopia), my guess is simply because it's too hard to understand and to accept. It's not a hobby for me. It could have been a hobby if I started decades ago, before all this insane money printing. I still buy some "fun" coins like pic, but they're only a very small part of my stack, and even there I avoid high premium collectibles. Even if Wallstreet can prop up the markets and make them look good, eventually they will crush the price blind side you because the simple fact is this: Accounting and finance can NEVER create value on their own. They can only move things around, and Wallstreet can not save us from the galaxy sized losses headed our way. They can't just wave a magic wand and have the problem disappear without basically breaking everything.
