>work wagie job for 4 years
>started in high school
>started at $10 an hour (it was better than $5 an hour which is how much I made at my old job)
>finally worked my way up to $14 an hour but the starting pay has increased over time
>guy they hired 3 days ago tells me he's making $14.50
I kinda like this job because it's so close to my house but I'm tired of being jewed around. What do I do now? How do I ask for a raise without mentioning that I was discussing wages? Or should I just tell my manager that I was?

>> No.55015988

Just tell them you need a raise.
Name the hourly wage you think is fair
You can start filling out applications at places that pay more and give yourself more negotiating power too

anon i worked for 5 years after high school made about $500 a week then went back to school paid for it with my savings got a cs degree now i make 100k and my quality of life is exactly the same as it was when i made $500/week because of how much the cost of living went up the past 10 years. in hindsight the best thing for me to have done would have been to just take out a mortgage keep my (easy low stress) job and built equity in my home and passively invest as much of my paycheck as i could afford. i dont know if that would work now because houses are much more expensive now but just sharing my empirical experience in case it helps you. good luck

Get another job, but don't accept it.
Show the higher rate to the old boss, day you are leaving unless they do better than this.
Say it in a nice way that emphasizes you like being here, and you've shown you can work hard, etc, but a complete stranger with no history will pay you more.

See what they do. Tell them you'll be taking up the new job offer in a day or so unless you come to a good outcome here.

They either come to the party and fix it, or you leave, knowing they don't think you're worth it.

Your only negotiating power is that you can leave.

I know how you feel, I got in debt at a tradeschool and still owe $34k from ten years ago in order to become licensed and certified in a particular field. Back then, starting at $14 was very decent (this is post 2009) considering how everyone and their dog was looking for a job. The other day at Aldi's I noticed a now hiring sign starting $16.50 an hour with medical, paid holidays, and other benefits. A kid fresh out from Highscool earns a little more without specializing in anything and without having to be in debt.

No they don't. Inflation means they would need to make $18.23/hr to match your original 2013 wage of $14/hr. If you started in 2010, $14/hr then is the same as $19.48 now

there are 3 tools for this
-candle charts
-order book
-a mix of the two with ''bookmap'' ''quantower'' and ''jigsaw''

for candle charts you can use
-adam grimes 2 courses free of charge
https://www.marketlifetrading.com/users/sign_up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDJpR0Qy-Qo&list=PL1uS5NzTxncSGOzsVQVfgOWlnj9pF5ou-

for bookmap, there are free live sessions with bruce pringle on monday, tuesday and friday at 9.30 ET
https://www.youtube.com/@Bookmap_pro/streams

you have to understand that as a retailer you cant trade anya sset you want. you have to pick your battle and stick to what have a good relative amplitude on the intraday chart and what brings decent money in absolute value.
The best assets for this are the indices, typically the futures contracts for the sp500
. With this contract you can earn 50 dollar if the index moves one point in your direction.

My tips is:
-to reduce your greed a lot. like really a lot. target earning 50--10 dollars per day tops, dont dream of getting 1k/day or even more (even though it's possible, at least in theory)
-to always use 2 or 3 lots in order to take partial profit all the time
-to trade the uropean session too, because the first half of the american session is super crabby and that's how you lose money at the beginning.
-to spend 6 months demo trading, even though you think it sucks and it's too long
-to accept that trading is more about psychology than for instance what indicators you use (especially once you reduce your greed an target a gain of 100 dollars per day)
-to take trading seriously, you can't do it on a real account with having a normie job
-to consider high timeframes like 1 week, 1 day and 15min if you struggle too much with the 1min or 3min chart

>> No.55019131

>>55019116
for psychology this is the video to watch

Never pay for courses, never pay for indicators, never pay for discord rooms. just watch lots of free videos on youtube and do months of paper trading on tradingview with a free account. I forgot to add that watching mark douglas first and foremost is crucial, he is the guy who wrote trading in the zone.
>Mark Douglas - How to think like a professional Trader (all parts) | Trading Psychology Seminar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s--sCEcYIGI

Dont trade options cfd, shitcoins and forex.
Stocks would eb oaky if they are super liquid and famosu comapnies only. But futures are just better and you need less amplitudes to earn a decent wage.

For the cheap borkers you have ninjatrader, optimusfutures, degiro, ameritrade. With a capital of 1k, you can trade micro ES, with 10k you can trade ES. Earning 100 usd/day is really easy on ES, because it's only 2 points. However people want more and they start fucking up. Accept that you are at the bottom of the food chain. Accept to curb your greed and spread your entries and spread your exits. That the key to the success.

Personally, for determining the entries, i use the divergences of the oscillators like RSI and stochastics and for the exists I use the exponential moving averages. like this guy

im speaking from options contracts, but its simmilar
with options your buying power resets every day, and reasonably timed expiries (1-4 day) can run you about $100-400
and if you have a good setup and levels, you can get $50 reasonably quickly and easily

You don't have any negotiating power because you are unskilled labor. Any attempts to negotiate will go badly for you, and even if you do manage a raise, the manager will resent you for trying to mog him and will sabotage you.
Your years of service don't matter because your job is unskilled and can be learned rapidly by anyone.
