I have been reading and learning about Internet Computer Protocol
>ICP
It honestly sounds too good to be true on paper, but once you read into it theres a bunch of sketchy stuff.
According to the devs its neither a PoW nor a PoS nor any PoS-like chain. It seems like a Layer 0 blockchain that mixes nodes(Neurons) with Layer 1 chain deployments. They have some very specific hardware requirements to run the L0 instance in order for you to become a Master node (Data center), i.e. the hardware part.
Then for you to actually use it you need to basically dox yourself and "trust the data centers". I like the idea of Internet becoming a "decentralized cloud service" instead of just a bunch of servers controlled by Google and Amazon, but those "data centers" might as well just be Google and Amazon again.

>> No.54993737

>>54993405
the data centers are controlled by a protocol... not people

its a huge difference. we'll see what happens, but devs have traditionally chosen to build on top of protocols when given the option. cloud isn't going away though, it'll probably co-exist.

It's not, it's just there are fewer programmers today who are for freedom and more are for profit. The ones that seek profit are almost always hack jobs, script kiddies and frauds at heart. They look for other peoples code to smash together and market a scam.

Back in the 80's IBM wanted to market computers and their OS at some ridiculous price of like $10,000 per unit.

Microsoft did it for way less. Apple was the same way, wanted to market computers for $5,000 per unit Microsoft did it for way less.

Look at what happening with AI... there are various websites up using the AI model source code and they charge a ridiculous price per use... the AI source is free on github.

You can just literally invest in a high performance PC and have your own AI models running

It sure is! You magically bought all of your ICP just a few cents off the absolute bottom. We totally believe you, kek.
These fucking retards started buying at $50, kept buying this shitcoin all the day down to $5, and then come here larping over buying at the bottom when in reality their average is between $10 and $15.

On another thread a midwit (maybe) funded me a bit. Broke it down like ICP really isn't decentralized but it's easier to use and more secure but way slower than AWS. I hold 3K pees. Is this just trading Bezos for Dominic or is there a huge and clear incentive for autists, degen gamblers, libertarians and normies to use it?

Point in case the whole thing cant really be called decentralized per se.

Anway, this is one of those projects that wont really make you rich in the near future. Maybe in a decade it will be worth $50 each ICP.

Nah you’ll make money from it in the next run due to the unlocks basically being done. There’s like a 3-4 month gap in 2025 where no unlocks occur then like 4 year gap after that. The next top should be 2025 based on the halving. So just because of that we’ll see a pretty decent increase in price. Then sentinment on the coin has changed recently and the chinks are developing a lot on it so I think we’ll probably see like $100-$150 next run. No way $500+ though

>it's controlled by a protocol bro!
Yea, no kek. Dfinity effectively controls the NNS and there's like 8 entities who control 80% of the nodes. Dfinity is like AWS who outsourced hardware maintenance/requisitioning to third parties (except you need 7x+ the same hardware) and renumerates them through bag holder liquidity. Dfinity is also the sole arbiter of who can and cannot participate as a node in the network, it's 100% permissioned and is why they don't really have a sybil resistance mechanism like PoS or PoW.

I have about 4,000 at an average cost of about $10. It would be higher since I started buying around $40 like most people but I made some decent money on the NFT craze of January 2022 and from staking on the NNS.

I'm 50/50 ICP and BTC. Everything else is unneeded. I'm right on like 75% of my picks but sell too early so this is the one I've decided to ride or die with to the end. I had 50,000 Walton I sold for 50 cents before it ran to like $50. I had 60,000 Link I sold for 50 cents. 10,000 BNB at $3. Solana at $3.

I believed really strongly of these things but just got bored and sold early to gamble on trash after nothing happening for a while. I'm just gonna keep buying ICP every few months as long as it stays under $8. I think it has all the same attributes of those other coins that end up making it. If we could see $250 I'll buy a house in the pacific northwest and disappear.
