Anyway, no. Your salary goes up and your taxes go down but you'd be responsible for a bunch of expenses that you didn't even know individuals had to pay for because your government is actually responsible and pays for them in Europe. You will have to buy a truck twice the size of your current car and drive it an order of magnitude more miles (we use miles) just for necessities like food. You'll get caught up in our stupid ethnopolitical squabbles and all the cool American entertainment that you used to be able to enjoy at arm's length will suddenly be all too applicable to your daily life, souring you on them.

That said, you can walk through fields and forests here without stepping on land mines so that's a neat deal.

When my mom had her heart surgery back in 2003 I was at the University of Maryland waiting for the surgeon to come out and tell us how it went. She came out just fine and after he was done with us there was an old man waiting for him to thank him. He was definitely from Europe based on his accent. He said to the doctor, "They told me back home there was nothing they could do for me. They told me I was going to die. You saved my life." It was quite an emotional scene that I will never forget especially immediately after hearing my mom came out of the surgery so well.
