And even if it does, it's not gonna be some kind of magical opportunity for you to swoop in and buy a house for pennies on the dollar. Plus, if the market crashes, that means the economy is in the shitter, so good luck getting a mortgage or even having a steady income to make the payments. I doubt it will be a "crash" but I'm hoping prices dip a little in a year or two when the Fed starts pulling back on interest rates. You got so many people out there that want to move, but are "stuck" in their home because they don't want (or can't afford) to trade their current 2.5% mortgage for a 6-7% one. Once interest rates are back down to more normal levels there's hopefully going to be a lot more inventory.
