I don't see why this image constantly gets posted like it's some terrible thing. Small apartments cost >2k a month in major cities and provide more space than a person living alone could need. If you were making 200k per year in san fransisco but don't want to waste half your paycheck on rent, living in a shared space for a couple years is a solid strategy. Ideally you get a bunch of friends and live in a small apartment together, but not everyone has that option. So this seems like a good idea. Only real downside is that big cities are full of druggies and thugs who will ruin it for everyone.
