I don't think it was the shorting of the stock that was the problem it was that when the massive-shorts were countered with equally massive buys, the buys were not counted and the trading machines were forcibly turned off (for retail only). I think that's why people are mad and that's what inspired GME holders to not sell because they were treated illegally.. That being said, the GME whales who made a killing are out and didn't come back which sucks.
