When reading and learning about metals, always go back to fundamentals.

1: No counter party risk between your physical in your possession.

2: 800 Million oz are mined in a year with 600 million going to industry

3: God's Ratio of 9:1 Silver to Gold

4: Silver and Gold are treasure, and what you do with your wealth and treasury is between you, your family and God alone!

5: The paper price may go up and down until it will have a break. Yes the break may be DOWN, but the physical supply in-hand will go up (Think April 2020 Oil going negative, what was cost at the pump?) Paper price is a derivative Read point 1

I went with a debtmaxx strategy last year and regret it a little. My 0% apr ended and I had to balance transfer to 1% with a small fee. You'd be selling close to a yearly high. If you're in the green and need some $, go for it. Taking profits is never a bad idea in the current system. It is a system destined to fail eventually, but it hasn't happened yet. Don't sell for spot or less. Most dealers are charging close to $4 premium at a minimum for 1 ounce rounds. Sell it on craigslist for a little less than the dealers and you'll get tons of interest and no paper trail/shipping/fees/returns/etc.
Things are looking pretty spicy right now though, so if it's something you can put off or pay with another way, you should go that route.

I would wait. I don't see much inventory moving at the online dealers. Since the initial SVB rush, all dealers have restocked and most items can be shipped within 1-2 weeks. One can always make the FOMO argument that all it takes is one event and demand will soar again but right now all the cattle are thirsty for higher rates investments. I live in an ancient roman occupied province, and a lot of metal detector afficionados are selling their find without a second thought on ebay.
They don't bother much, they just mark

There are medieval coins too, but they often are much more expensive.

I guess condition is the most important factor when it comes to numismatics, and those cheap coins often are in pretty bad shape, but i still feel like there is some arbitrage to be done, purchasing unidentified coin, identifying them and reselling them.

Only exception are gold or big silver coins but they usually are very expensive.
So far my only purchase have been pic rel for 15€, it's a Burgundian Crown (29gr of .900 silver). I bought it because it wasn't too far from spot for a coin from 1560 kek. But i don't think a coin missing a third of it's content have much numismatic value left anyway...

Imagine a financial crisis hit, what will happen first? Ppl are getting laid off en masse, the corpos will try to survive on skeleton crews.

Then companies and households will sell their belongings to survive a bit longer, that's a lot of influx of goods and real estate on the markets, but in the meantime, the money velocity is going down because people are spooped to spend.
And they try to get rid of their debt ASAP, either it be mortgages for couples owning a house, and assets for a company. Repaying the debts is synonymous with money destruction since the money lent by banks is created when the debt is compulsed and destroyed once repaid.

So basically when a financial crisis hit, the fear factor make people more savvy, which increase the perceived value of cash. And assets are going down because ppl are selling off their assets to get their hands on this limited amount of cash availible.

But what happen next? The government can't let laid off people starve to death in the streets, nor let big banks who are holding hostage tens of millions of US citizens bank accounts go burst (otherwise they'd bail in). It would be the perfect receipe for social instability. So what do the government do each time to buy some social peace? They start QE policies and print like crazy. They buy back the bad debts and try to pump up the money velocity so the economy start to function again and isn't paralized by fear of spending.
That's when inflation kicks in.

This is why it's always deflation THEN inflation.

Copper/bronze coins that weren't soaked in harsh acid for starters. I like buying dirty coins with nice planchets that I can tell have good quality patina and reasonably smooth surfaces under the dirt and crust, which means they'll likely be straightforward to clean and turn out looking nice. It's not an easy thing to explain, but I know a good dirty unidentified coin when I see one.
