Let's take the drone-eye view: both silver and gold have been money for most of the world for most of history. There have been attempts at paper money and every single one has ultimately failed. The US dollar achieved world reserve and trade status as a result of its initial gold backing and some unique post WWII global circumstances. Stock and real estate are right out. Maybe bonds for a short term, but I don't trust the government. Hold cash? That might work until serious inflation comes back to try and fill the debt hole. Crypto? Let's see how far it crashes today.

I'm open to ideas for where to put my money but I have yet to hear one that has a stronger foundation than gold and silver. As between the two, I like both for somewhat different reasons. You can't go wrong either way - unless you have the short attention span of the smart phone generation.

Can someone tell me why there is a difference between SLV price and silver spot? I am trying to develop a forecasting model for spot but can't find any free APIs that let you pull commodity prices but the ETFs associated with commodities are easy to get free support for. My goal is to import historical pricing without downloading a csv and working from that manually since I want it to update automatically based on the open/close prices

In any case, it's unsustainable, and the only solution California came up with is to vote in "reparations", as in free gibs for all niggers. Where is all this money going to come from, though? I imagine they plan for the Fed to bail them out. When FedNow and later FedCoin is instated, they'll be able to simply pillage all the money they need from other states. But there is some resistance mounting up. Florida is in the process of banning federal CBDC, and Texas is making moves on their gold & silver currency. Some other states have also passed laws to allow them to allocate a portion of their funds into gold and silver, and allow payment of taxes in this form. So there appears to be a war brewing, a financial war.

Unfortunately, the country has a profitability problem and far too many millionaires need to be culled in order to keep people working. And part of that destruction will likely be a jacking up of taxes on investments. "Ownership" in America is going to look a lot different than it does today and only the extremely uber wealthy will be playing around in the stock market when taxes make taking risks a bad idea. That's just my opinion. People won't be taking out loans and leveraging up stock prices like we are so accostomed to. A quick perusal of any of the 1970s investment books will show you what stock investing looked like back when the country had real interest rates. It was a dull, slow, boring long term commitment and looked nothing like the investment scene now with massive volatility and never ending price appreciation.

Having enough to buy in to the next cycle of the economy would be great, just have to reach the first goal of having a large enough stack to live off of for multiple years. Investing used to be you find a company that you believe in so you invest in them to help them grow and eventually you will get a return on your investment. Now it doesn't matter if the company is good, bad, real, or only exists on paper, you take out a loan to leverage twice your networth and spin the wheel to see if you win. Its turned into one giant casino were the house always wins in the end.

Not only that, but the legal-financial elite have gone so far to leverage up basically every single asset already in existence. They already own the assets and now they own all of the bonds which basically allows them to double dip on the profits. So even if you wanted to invest in something like Exxon because it is an energy producer, there is a dangerous precedent being set up where bond holders have claims over assets that supercede that of the shareholders. A great way for the elite to wipe out the top-heavy owner class is to probably find a way to destroy these ownership claims. I have no idea what I am talking about in this specific instance, but some sort of jubilee is bound to happen. Someone, somewhere is going to be eating some losses or we all collectively eat it via currency collapse and the fallout from that event/
