Dumbfuck boomer gives equal shares of 300k house to 6 grandchildren. If one of them comes up with 250k cash, can pay off the others and get the whole house. No one who can do this wants to do it. Heirs are uncomfortable about selling the house or don’t think they’ll get what it’s worth or it’ll take too much time and bother, or can’t agree on the price to buy out at. Arguments ensue. One of the grandchildren says fuck it I don’t care about my share. OP says fuck you I want my 50k so I can buy 10,000 Link and finally make it.

They should get the price assessed by professionals, like the ones a bank would use before agreeing to a mortgage, use that as a baseline for figuring out a "buy out" price. If one person thinks that they won't get what the house is worth on the market, then they should get a mortgage for the previously agreed upon amount and pay out the others their even split of that amount. If no one is willing to do that then they agree to split the money from the sale of the house. Doesn't seem that complicated.

Many such cases and our family has been through a nasty feud already because my grandfather left my aunt without the inheritance because she cheated on her husband and sold half their house to some randos, the house my grandparents helped her build
