It's excellent seed money to start some business venture. It isn't retire-early money in the first world anymore though.

The vast majority of people will never have a million dollars. Even most "millionaires" don't have $1 million in liquid assets. By that criterion, yes it's still a lot of money.

Well it depends
I live in Argentina where the exchange rate is 1 (usd) = 500 (arg peso) and the inflation is 104% annually. I've been making a measly 2k per month investing in shitcoins (PAPA, PEPE,DOGE, you know the drill) and it's enough to live with relative comfort, now imagine what 1 million would do to my life if i ever made so much.

with $1 million (after taxes), you can buy a ranch in south america, 200k in PMs for tradition reasons, a second citizenship quickly if you need to renounce US citizenship, and still have some left over for investing in foreign commodity-producing low P/E stocks that have dividend yields average 15%.

>> No.54851938

If I had it now, tax free? Of course. Just diversify that in index funds, REITs, some bonds, a few individual stocks, and other investments so that I don't have to worry about retirement.

I make 75k a year and already have a $125k portfolio. I can afford to take more risks like crypto and doing options since I have something to fall back on, but I'll take calculated measures.
