Gold is preservation of wealth, not really investment.
If you like the stuff I'd get a kilo of silver and an ounce of gold for fun and in case something fun happens. (silver-squeeze, gold-backed currency etc.) But invest most in something with more potential.

>>54833209
>To be honest I don't really care about the financial implications, I just want to have gold
In that case get a mix of nice coins made of 22k (slight copper content making them more robust) to play with.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEK2Ab4wxbo
Centenario (more than an OZ), Kruger (OZ), 100 Kronen (Slightly less than OZ), and smaller Vreneli, Sovereign, the half oz 100 Pesos from Chile is also a nice coin.

If you want something 100% gold the Canadian maple look nice.

Like this anon said, gold preserves wealth, it's not an investment. It can't generate you more money.

Now if you really want something that can pump i would suggest either $PEEPO or testing your luck in some other pumped shitcoins that this board can offer. This is all the alpha i can give since most bluechips take long to pump and LINK and XMR have shills all around the board. Just gonna leave this here and tell you to wait two to three days checking the charts to see that i was right. 0x251ce6231c8f892d41c0472121959c8ba577a415

For amounts to want to have for fun good measurements are per capita gold reserves.
e.g. if you want to have the same as Switzerland has per citizen it's roughly 4 oz, for the US it's about an oz.

not really, you dont have enough money. unless hyperinflation starts tomorrow and gold is the primary benefactor of it what will most likely happen is that you will end up needing that money before the price has moved much and you will lose 10% or more round tripping it because of the commissions and premiums. gold/silver stacker here.
Not really.
15k is nothing.
Gold/Silver is not really an investment where you expect an ROI, it is a hedge against the dollar inflation.

With gold/silver you'll lose about 2% of your wealth vis-a-vis the global capital markets.
Leaving it in dollars on a bank account you'll lose approx. 7%.
This is true for the past 50 years roughly.
Say the global assets are 150 Trillion (stocks, gold, real estate, bonds, crypto, etc) (it isn't btw, but lets say it is.
Your 15k represents 1 10 billionth of it. or 100 parts per trillion.
If you'd keep it in dollars, your $15000 will probably be worth 93 parts per trillion of the global asset base because it will inflate with 7%.
If you keep it in gold, your 7.5 ounces of gold will represent 98 parts per trillion of the global asset base, because gold will hold it's segment of the market and the gold supply will only inflate with 2%.

Off course there are temporary bulls and bears, but gold is not all that crazy volatile.
It's a good way to preserve your savings, not to grow them.

However, you're still dealing with 100 trillionth of global assets here.
Thats nothing, seek out a little more risk/reward and as you work and accumulate or your risk/reward investing pays off and you start having a couple 100k of assets, only then start thinking of preserving it by owning a nice amount of gold.

One asset that has a higher risk reward than gold and is straight up your alley is silver, another is crypto.

TLDR: yes put a little bit of cash into gold. It's a fun thing to have.
I'm about your age with the same amount of money as you and have 12k in the bank but 3.5k in gold. (overall networth is 22k) I plan on getting a quarter ounce soon as well. But mainly I just view it as cash that I would probably never spend anyways since I don't really consoom anything.
You should have money in growing assets too tho. I put 1/3 of my paycheck into VTI inside of a brokerage account and plan to get a ROTH IRA too for the tax advantages. But us zoomers probably won't live long enough to withdraw from one due to rising colon cancer rates in young people.
I also plan on using that money for maybe a down payment on a rental property or something similar in the future, so not all of it is in gold.

Also for anyone looking to buy gold just remember:
Gold will never moon. It's a slow moving asset. It will only ever keep up with inflation providing the American fiat status quo remains, which despite the doom and gloom it probably will. This is why it's a good idea to invest in shit that will make you money too.
Gold won't make you any extra money because it is money. Basically
