premiums on junk are pretty new I think. I don't remember ever seeing them before 2020. I remember that being true around 2008-2013. Never paid much attention to junk after that. I know Bold was selling dimes at 16-17x fv before the SVB happening occurred. I wasn't watching junk prices in 2019. Wish somebody had premiums charts that go back further than 1 year.

Junk silver almost always sells for a discount to spot. The only time it doesn't is when retards panic, like now. That's why coin dealers call silver buyers instant losers, they always lose and always will. Silver will go back to $10 or $15 and pmg will sell at a 90% loss. And I will buy it from them and then sell it back at a huge premium

Palladium Maple Chad...
I emailed this company. I asked to confirm that the coins had the radial design pattern per the picture and their description (wish I had screen capped that). I got no response, but when I checked the web site there was no longer any mention of radial lines. I tried calling them, but it sounds more like they're a PM refining and storage company. Not sure they sell to peons.
Sketchy. I'm giving up on them.

I like 10 au, 0 ag

back when /pmg/ first started I think the idea was to stack silver to trade for gold when the ratio was advantageous. The end goal being to use silver volatility to increase your gold stack. Endgame, all gold, no silver

somewhere along the way that idea got buried for some reason. Not sure why.
Also I don't think gold was even the final form. After you got a big gold stack you were supposed to convert it to land and start building.
Maybe those oldfags finally figured out you can just get a loan and buy land without all those other steps.

My reasoning is, to save my current wealth against inflation, converting all excess paper money for gold and silver, but more silver since I believe in the 1 gold for 15 silver ratio

Find your reason. Do you want to hold paper money or see it as a digit on a screen, or do you want to have shiny metal? For me it's the later

if you really believe fiat will collapse and metals will rise, it makes sense to trade all the fiat you can for metals, including borrowed fiat.
I don't think that's going to happen, but I do believe houses are going to keep going up and encourage anons to go into debt to buy them. Trade some worthless paper for an asset that will go up. If it goes up fast enough, it literally pays for itself.

but as I pointed out to those oldfags, gold and silver haven't caught up to houses in the last 100 years, and there's no reason to think they ever will. So there's basically no way a normal person can ever stack enough to buy a house. Because by the time you do, houses will have doubled in price again. You'll die long before you can afford a house.

yes
the dollar represents debt, and every time you earn one you engage the system
the only way out is to convert your debt paper to real assets.

how much that "costs" in paper doesn't matter if you can't escape. In that case you're just counting how much time you need, not paper. And that depends how fast your asset goes up while your debt goes down.

if you get a loan, you pay it off in 30 years, maybe less. All that time you get to use the asset. If you save up on your own, you will never pay it off and you'll never use the asset.

>> No.54815464

Anything reliant on debt is vulnerable. Residential and commercial real estate are incredibly vulnerable to extreme reevaluation. Nobody knows what the true value of those assets are because like many other markets, they have been pumped for a decade through unsustainable lending practices. Commercial real estate right now is looking very bad, residential might soon follow. How low prices go will be based on how long the Fed can stomach the current rates without causing hundreds of deflationary debt bombs to go off.

far longer than that. US housing has gone pretty steadily up since the depression.

I agree, it seems unsustainable. Yet it keeps right on sustaining. And really it's not houses going up so much as the dollar going down. But wages are going down too, and that makes it harder and harder to trade cash for real assets. Now you pretty much have to marry a working girl to buy a house, which is no coincidence.

should also mention that paying rent is as bad or worse than going into debt, as far as usury goes.

but /pmg/ types have always ignored this point since most of them live with their parents and don't pay rent or interest. They have the luxury of calling those things jewish tricks because their parents bought them that luxury. Meanwhile in the adult world you either pay interest or rent, and both are annoying.

Yes that's an important aspect, but it's not the only reason. The key part is they're laying down the infrastructure for a CBDC. Once that's in place with FedNow, they can later on just flip a switch and move everyone to CBDC, which I'm sure they're also very busy working on in the background. The FedNow thing will act as a test bed of the infrastructure.

Let's address the question in the context of a simple precious metal currency rather than the more complicated "gold-backed" currency which introduces the possibility of government corruption.

Gold and silver money are self-adjusting. Assuming wealth grows in an economy so that the money supply needs to "represent" more wealth. Two things happen with gold or silver. The first is that the exchange value of the metals increases to meet the demand. The second is that the increased exchange value drives more mining so that the supply increases at a faster rate. Voila!

The idea that inflation of the money supply is needed to accommodate economic growth is a Keynesian myth.

CBDC isn't going to happen. The US economy is heavily dependent on foreign trade. MANY US companies absolutely need foreign trade to continue in business and they are not going to let the US government kill it. When the dollar loses its international reserve and trade status, foreign countries are not going to accept some new Fed vaporcoin to replace it. Why would they? The USD became the world's currency due to some very unique post-WWII conditions that no longer exist. Whatever replaces the dollar as world currency, it will need to have a real commodity backing. CBDC will not fly internationally.

Now the US government, sweethearts that they are, might try to force it domestically, but that won't work either because US businesses will need to use whatever the rest of the world is using and that will seep into the US economy.

This is indeed the scenario that I experienced. When I started, Ag was at $37/ozt. I still consider the current prices as a deal.
My suggestion would be to take it easy - just buy stuff you really like, and then it won't matter what the market does, because you won't have sunk everything into a commodity you can't resell to break even, and you'll still have very nice artwork.
If it heads into the mid-teens again, start buying more frequently. If it goes up, buy less frequently. It'll come back down again. The manipulators make money off the *change* in prices, not the steady movement one way or another.

The only way to have inflation with tight credit is by direct printing of new money and that deprives the banks of their profit, which is the underlying agenda. There's also a gold coin, and it's not that expensive (25 euros more than a krugerrand).

Mercs are one of the most beautiful coins ever minted. I wish they were all denominations like Barbers were. Imagine that fasces on a dollar coin.

5-10%, give or take. I bought mine a couple years ago at 18%. Now it's down tl at or $14 over spot. It's well worth it, gold's fiat price is only going to go up, especially Ruskie coins. IF I were to sell mine today, I could easily remake my premium and then quite a bit of profit.

And for the record, if I read your post right, 5 gold rubles are roughly in the $250 range not $500 in gold content.
