It honestly depends on what broker you're using and how you have that account configured. If it's a cash only account without margin or options or share lending enabled, and that account is with a reputable and large brokerage, you probably don't have anything to worry about. If you're on robinhood you're fucked whenever they decide to fuck you which would probably be somewhere between four and five figures, same goes for any other phone broker contract-for-difference bucketshop. For US holders the only two brokers I would trust would be Fidelity and Vanguard but at the end of the day in the ToS for the account you created you agreed to them being able to close any position of yours at any time if they deem it necessary. Having said that I hold all of my BBBY and 25 GME with Fidelity, with the other 250 shares of GME DRS'ed to pure book entry with computershare.
