Funny how everything hinges Torres coming to a verdict. May 5th seems to be the cap day, after that it's overtime(based on previous Daubert motion rulings). Torres also freed up her schedule to take on other cases, so it seems she's done enough deliberation that she can focus on other cases now.

In the short video at this link this guy sets his trustline to the one I have highlighted in the pic. There is only one xCORE Issuer Account for him. There are now two. My understanding based on David's explanations is that when you provide liquidity to an AMM pair-pool (The ledger will have 1 AMM per pairing), you'll get a token representing your deposit + accrued yield. You'll actually be able to transfer the token, since it's just an iou similar to how bank notes used to be ious for deposited gold coins, or you can redeem the token with the AMM to get your claim + yield back. David emphasized the last part was to help with tax efficiency if you're so obligated to report it, as it will be a single gain rather than every accrual of yield.

Yield actually will be accrued through both the geometric algorithm and arbitrage rights auctions. So the AMM doesn't actually know the current price of the pairing, instead it auctions off the right to arbitrage against the central order book. For instance if the AMM is selling a stable for 100 standards, and the order book price is 150 standards. An arbitrager might win an rights auction bidding 20 standards to conduct the arbitrage and gain 30 standards in profit themselves. The 20 standards paid to the AMM go towards the yield for all the liquidity providers.

The point of the AMMs isn't to replace interest or staking in a technical sense, rather to increase the liquidity & efficiency of the central order book by offering arbitrage opportunities with the AMM, where the only trades against the AMM allowed would increase the total holdings.

Interest is paid regularly as a yield for lending capital over a duration and staking is a form of security/governance which yield is generated through tokens. This is closer to volatility harvesting by lending your capital to smooth markets through auctioning arbitrage rights. Greater volatility increases the arbitrage potential since there will be greater breadth for viable arbitrage bids and more frequent arbitrage opportunities.

For the popular ones sure, but as I thought about this limitation I realized it incentivizes liquidity providers to find more illiquid pairings for higher yield. For instance xsg-coin has only 1 bidder and and a wide bid-ask spread, although it's infinitesimally low volume.

I'm not a dev with testnet access, so I don't know exactly how the redemption process works other than destroying the AMM iou & returning your initial capital + yield. I don't think the pot splits your 10k xrp into 50/50 usd, rather for the AMM to have USD, it needs to gain it from selling to an arbitrager or from you or another liquidity provider depositing a USD token. The iou being a claim on AMM pool itself is a token issued by the iou with a specific value + yield tied to it, so one option is to just sell the token like you'd sell a share of a trust fund to someone. Think of how Treasuries trade on a secondary market one entity being the primary purchaser.
