They continue to word it that way because we haven't really begun to feel the effects of it.

We're just coming out of what is the 5th deadliest pandemic in history that had a lot of fucked up responses that crashed the world economy. Plus there's an ongoing hot war between Russia and NATO/Ukraine. Also, there is an evolving cold war between the US (mostly, but also other Western nations) and China.

Everything is just barely holding on by a thread, basically being awful but not as awful it could be currently. But it will and the media and governments try to talk about it in a scripted way that won't shock the markets too much. Nothing is looking good though.
