Slightly overweight silver 1oz rounds/bars are the norm, it's probably cheaper to make them a bit heavier than having too many underweight planchets that need to be remelted.

What's the problem with the jewelry, is it tarnished? If so you can get something like "JSP Silver Dip Cleaner" which will brighten up the pieces in seconds.

not really tarnished, just a bit dull I guess. Lacking the shine. My wife wants to pay some shop big bucks for cleaning and I thought we can probably do it ourselves. Thanks for the tip, i'll look for that cleaner.

Hmm, you mentioned Rhodium which would have been used as plating on the sterling, perhaps much of it has been worn off in which case it would need to be re-plated to look like it did when new. If worn plating isn't the issue it might need a good polishing, so if you don't have the tools to buff the pieces you may need to hold your nose and pay a jeweler to do it.

I fucked up. I keep a silver coin in my keurig and the pitcher used to fill it up. I wanted to clean everything so I diluted bleach in the sink to clean the parts and then poured diluted bleach in the water reservoir -except I forgot to take out the wiener. Thought it would come off easy with the tin foil and baking soda but not so far. I’ve got it sitting in some multi purpose cleaner now.

I wonder if it’s chemical damage like corrosion or just some kind of tarnish...

That's a beautiful platter fren, I think the old repairs are to be expected with long-used 18th century silver, it may not be perfect but those imperfections give it character and demonstrate how it was used and loved for many years, I really like it. I bet so much of that old silverware was melted down around WW1 and 2 and then around 1980, hopefully people wised up by 2011 but I'm sure plenty more got scrapped. Any Metro Detroit anons here, I found a pretty solid coin shop in Westland that sells silver coins, bars, and rounds the same price as online stores (he matches them real time) and sells junk silver for 50 cents - $1 extra per coin with no sales tax. However, the guy is strictly cash only for his stuff as he uses silver selling to get cash for his main business which is cash 4 gold shit.

With the denomination of a quarter dollar coin changing to a $1 face value, the mint could continue to short nickel and copper for years to come, however the holders of the physical metal would also profit greatly. Both coins would be accepted until the .25 coin is slowly replaced by the same size and weight coin that will say $1. The sba dollar should have been more polygonal, but people probably would have responded negatively like when the 10 new pence became the 50 new pence coin. I welcome the face value changing because then my investments rise for however many multiples they expand it by. Bagholders of metals always win against the jikes.

Don't buy them in mass if you don't want to. Its recommended to own at least a small portion of your wealth in precious metals in case of emergency thats the minimum. Also it's a good hedge against inflation. If you do end up stacking, stack within your budget, don't sperg out and psebt maxxx to leverage yourself to the percentage of your country's debt then continually refinance and balance transfer to siphon credit into pm's and petrobrasil. Don't do that.
Aside from this, the exchanges print paper silver and even trade silver that doesn't belong to them, in order to short it, which they borrowed a lot of cash to swoop in on silver years ago, and then must rebuy it to fulfill their shorting contracts, only thing is they spent their loans, sold the silver and now they can't keep the price down because they are in a death spiral of printing and dumping until theybjave none left and all the bagholders of paper silver will want their delivery of silver. At most 1 in 250 paper contracts for silver are convertable into real physical silver.
Paper silver scam is ending and anons dont want each other to miss out.

>Anime: Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement
Realistically, how many .9999 Gold coins should anons aim to save for a comfy retirement?

In the anime they used 2015 numbers for the calculations, she wanted to have 2 billion yen worth, 1B yen per world. That's roughly $10M USD worth per world, and the other world gold coins were worth $200 USD, hence the 80k Gold.

I don't think you can really compare the situation now with what happened in 1980. Industrial demand alone is a completely different ball game than it was back then. If we're getting a future of solar energy and EVs like globohomo is pushing for, it's going to take an obscene amount of silver to make that a reality. We were already under-supplied by more than 200 million ounces last year alone.

>>54708458
Because it's not traditional gold or silver, laws differ from state to state on platinum.
As an example, I can tell you that platinum coins are taxed in texas, but not platinum bullion, because all the coins are foreign currencies. Silver and gold is excluded from this. I think that means bills could be taxed also. Illinois does not have that issue. Florida does, and New Mexico taxes fucking everything.
American eagles are more expensive than other country's coin, but the addition of taxes effectively equalizes things.

I'm glad you decided to post this. Gather round everyone and witness the shill's foot in his mouth.
The tax man would have you sell your gold and silver at a profit so you would pay capital gains tax on it. The flip side of this of course, is that if you sell it at a loss like he's so keen on mentioning 50 times every thread, it counts as a capital gains loss. Which you can write off to offset other capital gains profits.
OR you can deduct up to three thousand (3,000) in taxes from general income per year.
https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc409
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/081616/understanding-taxes-physical-goldsilver-investments.asp

Therefore, there is no real reason to really ever avoid buying it (as long as you keep your receipts). Shiny goes up? Profit. Shiny goes down? Less taxes.

Thank you Mr. IQdelete for the chance to spread the word to fellow anons.

When silver rises, the world will see the most powerful autistic king. I can see into the future by 3 seconds now, when my neurons have been fully sheathed with myonmenic memetic silver pure Ag iii ionic compound, then I willl see past the light cone, sourcing the electron paths to lead me to more silver. The funny thing is any discovery of new silver wil only pump the price, not even the bogdanoffs take their boxing gloves off for this one because my boy sminem is a little poor clump chump compared to me, I gave him everything and could buy jim sminem over 10,000,000 times. My processing power is only growing and with more silver it can compute faster, and figure out how much silver I can need to increase my computing speed and power to increase the units of speed and power. Some sort of calculus you can call it, but I see it more of laying an aqueduct, full of magnetohydrodynamically flowing molten silver, right into my pockets.

You can still buy the reproductions but I think they're expensive. Maybe they'll reuse the design but we'll probably get something lame instead.

>and that one was well loved and well used. If anything it was hard to keep Ikes in circulation because people hoarded them.
People still do like and hoard them too. I save them when I find them. A friend of mine was trying to sell a lot of coins for a crackhead friend of his. Had 20+ ikes in the lot.
I offered 1.50 a piece for them but the crackhead wouldn't budge. She sold the lot for $20 (it had $35 FV + $8 in silver halves). Was sad because I really like Ike dollars. Even if they usually aren't silver.

Witnessed lol I remember seeing something like that, they have their own police just like the jews do in new york. I have a hong kong dollar coin from the late 60s early 70s, weighs as much as this coin, yet the denomination's changed. I hypothesize that there will be a correction to the coin denominations, i quite literally bank ondit. Speaking of ikes, specifically the clad ones, I saw this old newspaper clipping where the author was astonished at how after the currenct dropped silver (article written in 65), he was seeing silver dollar coins selling for as high as a dollar 25, which back then was quite a bit more as well as the markup immediately seen in the regular daily markets of the swapmeets of yesteryondyear. Back to the coins, all around the world they jumped by 5x in denomination ones their pegged parent dollar was debased.

>People still do like and hoard them too.
I love all old US coins but Ike's were always special to me as a kid. Back in the day men usually carried a pocket piece or a wallet dollar. My grandpa had a peace dollar, my dad still carries an Ike around. I have a silver clad proof Ike I've held most of my life. I've had some crazy coins over the years, almost every US type of gold, silver, copper, nickel. Stuff from the 1700's and early 1800's. I've bought and sold all of them but never got rid of the Ike dollar. Probably never will.

Yeah I have an old coin price guide from 1966-67 and the prices are pretty funny. Especially the pre-33 in pic related

Also the book comes with a little warning that it's illegal to stack common US gold coins. I remember when gold was banned here, the prices were ridiculously low for pre33 but nobody had any for sale.

I also remember when gold was legal but Krugs were banned in the US.

Might not occur, this week is still loaded with big corpo earnings, and so far the results have been pretty grim. Banks still are in jeopardy and aren't lending shit, thus triggering a financial standstill. Kikes are claiming inflation is finally getting under control, when in truth it's just that ppl are so incredibly broke they can't consoom anything anymore.

The usual dip-at-opening was attempted, lasted 5 hours (until EU markets opening), and we already are closing the gap.
I'd say this week for silver will be summed up as :

Main arguments?
>Muh memelines oracles are predicting a bad omen

>more rate hikes to be expected (even tho this faggot was saying the exact opposite a month ago, and ignoring the fact silver went up during previous hikes anyway)

And beyond that, they post 2 articles concerning silver a year. You could expect a minimum of content, not just basic memelines astrology.
The fact they don't even mention WHY there was a recent run on silver (bankrun after SVB, Signature bank, Credit Suisse, etc.. implosion), nor are addressing any of the fundamentals driving the demand up (HJT and Topcon architectures for new solar panels' standards consooming 2x more silver), or even the last week's report from the silver institute saying how bad the deficit on silver reserves are (the report even made it to the Financial Times and Forbes ffs), etc.. is pretty telling.

Truth is they have zero substance to fud silver, beside more paper shenanigans they can't possibly acknowledge for obvious reasons. So all they have left is voodoolines nobody cares about. Reeks of low talmudic energy.

I think that during any recession you will see most if not all stocks go down regardless of how well off they are fundamentally, especially when banks are struggeling as banks tends to be the big holders that keeps a stocks volatility low.
Tech forexample has had the worst falldowns during recent recessions, but that could be because they are an emerging market more so than inheritly being a volatile.
The main reason I ended up buying into silver/gold was due to good performance historically during recessions, on top of that they tend to perform well during high inflationary periods which was guaranteed thanks to the FED.
The SETF has been interesting to follow along, but its not my prime reason for buying silver/gold
