can you buy a house with cash? Like can I pay for it with a bunch of 20s and 100s, or is that an issue?

I told my bank I wanted 10,000 dollars withdrawn and I wanted it in pennies and they told me to fuck off.

The Chinese have been doing it on the west coast for the past 10 years. In fact, their suitcases of cash let the win a bidding war as the owner deals with less paperwork.

>> No.54690939

You will get the IRS (or whatever the equivalent is in your country) very interested regarding where you got so much small change.

Don't do it. Use that money to live off of and pay the house with your wages from your bank account so there's a paper trail for that money.

Yes, they look for patterns.
>>54690939
Exactly.
And also a lot of people who use cash get their money confiscated because the feds straight away assume it's 'dodgy'. Say, there was I guy I heard of that went to work for the summer as a carpenter in Germany, got paid in cash, then left the country and at the border they took it away because 'it wasn't declared' or some retarded shit like that. Don't be /that guy/

So they look for patters and then confiscate your money before they even have evidence of a crime. Sounds like it's not your money and the confiscation are politically targeted even though the majority of cash buyers aren't breaking the law.

Obviously it's not your money, it's their money and they use it to control you.

You pay a title company when you buy a house, not the home owner. Paying in cash would delay the home owner getting their money. Most likely someone at closing would have to take the cash to a bank and get certified funds before they issued the check to the owner and the transaction would be complete.

yes you can, cash is legal tender which means it must be accepted for goods and services.

>> No.54691199

You cannot
Showing up with a briefcase full of cash to anything, including closing, is more likely to just get you arrested
Hell with that many dollar bills you might as well be arrested for drug trafficking due to the small amounts of cocaine that cover the surface of most dollar bills in circulation

>> No.54691278

>>54691211
Cool, that's what I said. Or were you reiterating for others in the thread?
You could technically pay cash for a quit claim deed, but from a title standpoint you would really be gambling that the person selling you that piece of paper, has the rights already. I know this would work in my state, but a person would be stupid to try.

A good lawyer would get that thrown out pretty quickly. But the IRS, they'd have questions and audit every return they could. And if you didn't show enough income where you could explain rat holing that cash, they'd ask for their cut, with interest and penalties.
>>54691302
As long as the closing company would agree to accept cash.
>>54691194
I'd like to see some case law on this.

Per: https://www.federalreserve.gov/faqs/currency_12772.htm
There is no federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless there is a state law that says otherwise.

Section 31 U.S.C. 5103, entitled "Legal tender," states: "United States coins and currency [including Federal Reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal Reserve Banks and national banks] are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues." This statute means that all U.S. money as identified above is a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor.

Cruising around with any significant funds in cash or gold makes you subject to civil asset forfeiture. You won’t be charged with a crime. You will have to prove the money has a trail and is clean, otherwise it is assumed dirty and will be seized.

It’s fucking insane but it is real and it happens Al the time. Look it up retards

I think this is best achieved by buying tax lien type properties that are auctioned off of the courthouse steps. I have anecdotally heard that unsavoury characters with briefcases of cash can show up to those and buy them with no questions asked, but I'm not sure how true it is.

Imagine your savings are all in 20 dollar bills then the central bank, the FED says phases out that bill. You're left with worthless paper. I read in the news that they did something like this that in India to prevent people evading taxes. I'd rather hold shiny rocks like silver than fucking pieces of cotton.
