You don't actually own any stock in any company.
A brokerage ALLOWS you to interact with the shares and pretend like you have a stake.
All (((they))) have to do is shutdown the brokerages, claim the system was hacked by Russia and your 401k + other holdings are going to be wiped out.

The safest place to hold your money is in gold, and maybe crypto but that's also susceptible to systemic shutdowns affecting on/off ramps and P2P apps.
