I'd rather put an amount that larger into dividend stocks, specifically defense contractors even if yield is closer to 3%. Barring total collapse of equities they can weather a further downturn, would be resistant to bank failures and are looking at large cash inflows from existing and planned contracts which should raise the underlying price of the stocks even if normies are poor as shit big daddy government is going to be buying billions in more weapons soon and Taiwan will be further catalyst for long term growth. In a less apocalyptic environment I'd spread that into better dividend yields and a savings account would not seem as bad but may not produce yields as big as 4% which is fairly modest given the tract of the dollar and underlying fear.

Inflation is 8.45% including all M1 M2 M3. Crypto pays 4% which is already beating inflation because it's paid in ETH.

Anon, holding on to cash, like in a jar which gets no interest, is what nets you -8%. You are losing to inflation, even with this "great" interest rate.

Keeping cash in a high-yield savings account is not equivalent to keeping it in a jar. True, the effective loss of purchasing power after considering yield will somewhere between -3 to -4%, but still could be considered safer than other securities.

I use BTC as my inflation hedge. I refuse to participate in interest based finance as it is ruining the world, and is the backbone of the global Jewish banking system. I am also forbidden to invest a too large amount of my finances in unstable markets, so I am left with gold, property, guns and actually spending my savings on actively getting more money by starting companies (i have two now) which, inshallah, will provide me with more than regular interest in return over the years.

That's 4.2% annual yield compounded monthly. So you would be earning more like $3.50 a month.

It's a little different from savings accounts because T-Bills are sold at a discount instead of giving yield. So for example you would buy at a price of $996.50 and then get $1000 at the end of the month.

I would just recommend most people get a high yield savings account. Easier to manage for small amounts. You can start by Googling "high yield savings account canada" and just open an account.
