I have a finance degree and work in the trades, guys respect me for it.
From my experience in the trades so far, white collar workers do look down on you. Even though the office building they are enjoying and all the amenities were built and wired by a tradesman.
I plan on getting my ticket and transitioning into a finance/operations role but I think I'll take a lot of lessons from this job.

these goals are direct opposites, and in conflict with each other. So yeah, try dealing with someone who's job is to make your job harder whenever possible. Of course there's animosity.

Frustration on both sides imo.
Lets look at it historically:
>people go to college, get a guaranteed white collar job with good money if they can afford it(or handle the debt)
>not many jobs require a degree due to lack of degree inflation. blue collar jobs pay well, and there is easy opportunity through time to advance to white collar work without a degree. many entry level white collar jobs require no degree and are an option.

today:
>middle class all go to college, but struggle to find a job or out-earn a blue collar worker, despite starting work later and the debt
>the line between traditional working class and middle class basically erased due to this.
>blue collar workers have less options for advancement to white collar work through their career due to degree inflation, more often forced to physically work harder till they retire
>white collar workers economically are basically the same as blue now, and there is increased shit flinging by them and bitterness over their debts despite "doing it right by the book". unfortunately the books rules are outdated due to degree inflation. the only way left for them to easily distinguish themselves is the degree they cant find a job with, or if employed often not money. so they are left with shit flinging.

OP can't even define what he thinks white collar or blue collar jobs are. Nobody like freeloaders, and nobody likes pillbillies. Everyone hates the guy with a do-nothing desk job that should've been automated with an Excel macro 20 years ago, and everyone hates the scumfuck plant operator that can't show up half the time, and is the reason we have to have constant "random" drug screens.

The real conflict isn't even between managers and their own subordinates most of the time. Its between the parts of the business that execute on delivering its good or service and the C-suite that is terminally disconnected from the day to day operations, or the sales team that constantly manages to sell things you don't actually provide.

i did manual labor in a factory for a few years. now i have a wfh accounting job that pays 3x as much money with fewer hours. the modern world doesn't value most labor. no point in swimming against the current, if you don't have to.

the vast majority of jobs aren't real jobs. the factory i worked at made door skins for hollow core doors. 48 door skins every 55-60 seconds on one production line alone. was it a real, tangible product? yes. was it bottom grade trash that contributed nothing but cheapness and waste to the world? also yes. many such cases in the "real world." the united states, even the world hasn't built anything meaningful in decades.
