Seriously, how do people find gems like Xen and Radiant before they pull a 5x out of nowhere? Do people just have lucky charms with every crypto they throw it in? Is there a secret description formula on CMC you have to look for to catch each of these megapumps?

I'm getting depressed seeing how many pumps I've missed out on. Everything I'm in right now either goes up at a snails pace or megadumps.

It's all so tiring.

Most crazy pumps like that are inorganic and manipulated by market makers to scam people. It's called a pump and dump and the scale of a pnd can be enormous in crypto due to the ease of wash trading.

To clarify there is no actual value being transfered. Market makers buy their own orders up to a threshhold and then keep it there. Usually they don't even lose out on trading fees because exchanges are complicit in the pump and dump, having been granted a number of tokens as a cost of listing. The exchange sells off its tokens into the pump, letting fools scoop them up.

Everyone but the person fomoing in wins.

BTW a huge amount of coins on cmc are sustained by nothing but market makers and bots, and have almost zero real purchasing/selling going on by real people.
