How feasible is it to flip gold/precious jewels as a side hussle?
I know you’d need a crucible of some sort, but where would you get the scrap gold from and whom would you sell it to. I’m assuming something like estate sales and having ads for buying old jewelry.

What’s the profit margin for something like this?

easy enough once you melt it down and separate the tungsten

I mean I get that physically easy to do, but how easy is it to make money from it

The only reason to melt it down would be if you're collecting gold from old electronics which is very time consuming since the individual amount of gold in each is minuscule. You'd be better off finding copper and melting it down since it's much more plentiful. You can pull the field windings out of old alternators/generators at junkyards and get a lot of copper from that.

Old jewelry is probably worth more staying in jewelry form because that can add value whereas a gold bar of indeterminate carat/alloy is worth spot at best.

he’s saying gold is actually full of tungsten, even tho gold is practically worthless, and they will just steal it from you anyway, even tho it’s worthless and secretly full of tungsten. not overly practical to try and scrap. you should always be on the lookout for a good deal on used jewelry but you won’t make a living doing it.

There are some tutorials on youtube about extracting gold from electronics. It isn't terribly complicated once you're set up. Just depends on if you live in a place with access to garbage electronics. (Mainboards, processors, etc.)

As soon as you melt down and recast an actual piece of jewelry or bullion, you immediately have to convince the future buyer that its actually the metal you claim it is. Stick to attempting to recover actual wasted metal.

Most PM recovery methods will involve trying to dissolve gold, plat, or palladium into concentrated HCl and HNO3, the latter of which releases toxic NOx gases when it reacts. You then filter the solids out, and the metal rich acid solution is hit with some strong reducer like a metabisulfate salt to crash out the PM as a powder, which you can then filter, wash, and remelt. I've seen some people use a milder method of getting gold foil contacts off of PCBs using salt, an air bubbler, and H2O2, but that's about it.

Basically, you'll never break even after you go and buy up a bunch of pins/capactiors, get the hardward and chemicals to refine it, and deal with the wastes you make in the process. Oh, and you're probably going to give yourself brain cancer from the fumes too. The best approach is to just scrap stuff for fun, and maybe flip it to some aspiring youtube chemist.

You would need a license to sell it to a refinery.
>buy scrap gold for around 75% of spot price like pawn shops do
>send to refinery and sell for 99% of spot price
easier said then done
The refiners need your dox so you would need to report everything
Also theres a bunch of laws which pawn shops deal with, you could be held liable if you buy stolen jewelry from a crackhead at a steep discount etc.

Im personally learning to make jewelry, theres a good margin in manufacturing in demand jewelry such as cuban chains where you can get 30-50% over spot price for, and adding diamonds and selling it to niggas.
I resized this ring and im about to try to make a 14k bracelet from scratch. Already made a bunch of silver stuff to practice

I havent sold it yet, its just a hobby for now. All the tools cost me around 1k, but im making it from scratch which is not done these days, most jewelry is made with lost wax casting, a setup for that is around 2-3k you can basically 3d print any jewelry design and then cast it, so you can make complicated stuff, you can cast jewelry which already has the holes for setting gems, then you just have to buy lab diamonds from china for the holes diameter.
Making stuff by hand is not really economical in the west, unless youre making custom engagement rings or big cuban chains where its worth spending the time.
Im just doing it as a hobby for now but I would like to grow it into a business eventually. Im still a big amatuer and i learned everything from just watching youtube and reading.

But from knowing the insides of how it works I can tell you that selling diamond jewelry to niggas is a goldmine, which is why the jews have been doing it.
