The Fed was ahead of the curve of other central banks in the hiking cycle, where the Fed will either continue 25bps increments or pause, whereas other central banks need to continue hiking aggressively
as their bonds become more attractive at higher yields, their currencies will also appreciate relative to the dollar
I don't see how the dollar can sharply rise again, unless we see a rebound in inflation (PPI was driven lower almost entirely by energy - energy rebound post OPEC cut..)
If inflation rebounds, it would force Fed to raise more aggressively
To be fair, we also saw the 1 year inflation expectations also shoot up 1% in a single month yesterday, where the Fed may feel the need to continue aggressive policy to rein in inflation expectations
Just relative to other central banks, especially EU and Japan, it seems like the Fed will be less aggressive than they will be, which should make the dollar continue to fall
On top of this, we are now seeing commodities traded for gold, for the yuan, etc. This surely will decrease demand for dollars, while at the same time we are seeing other countries dump US bonds en masse, which will increase the supply of dollars
We also have strong recession forces decreasing economic activity and decreasing the demand for dollars
I don't see how the dollar doesn't keep falling in relative strength desu, there's so much going against it now
This is of course bullish for equities, commodities, and cryptocurrencies
unless the recession forces and decrease in earnings outweighs the dollar decline
a lot of earnings have been complaining for almost a year about how their bottom line was impacted by exchange rates, that the strong dollar was hurting their profits.. so maybe the dollar (continuing) to fall can help offset the recession drop in profits
with all this said, if we continue to hike aggressively, the dollar may rebound, which would be super bearish

testing the new keyboard I got for my 13 year old looptoop computer off eBay for $13. Been battling failing keys for months. This one is a little wonky feeling and the space bar requires a different pressure but sure am grateful to be done with the daily constant struggles. I even had to redoo my account setup with E*TRADE back around TG due to the "i" key not working when I input muh name and didn't nootice because didn't have muh readin' glasses. So far all of these keys have worked but the pressure requirements are often different. Fuck it, it's far better than what I've been dealing with.

Home ownership made more sense when you worked the same job all your life and retired with a pension. Those types of jobs are gone unless you work for the government. Younger folks don’t stay in one location for more then five years on the average. Even the military moves you around every three years. This is not enough time to build up decent equity in a home. Just look at the amortization schedule for an average home loan. Now if you can land a job that will keep you in one area for about fifteen years then great buy a home. If you can pay cash for it even better. But don’t let the lack of mortgage, poi, and insurance payments depress you.

That's an employment problem, not a homeownership problem. That modern homes and all their associated costs are ludicrously overpriced while modern jobs are ludicrously underpaid in relation doesn't mean people should stop owning homes, in my view (although that's probably where we're heading). It means a highly centralized job market where the most profitable jobs are centered in urban areas also ends up centralizing housing stock, raising prices. File names are the years/months covered in each chart. First is an all time overview.

The point of these is to study the landscapes of some major historical crashes in the attempt to get a feel for what one might expect in crashes in progress and to come. In some ways, the present one is something of a blend of elements from all previous, and also unique/unprecedented in many ways. I suspect that at some point within it it will feature a sudden, sharp one within all of this feathering.
