i'd say its a good time to recollect and figure out what to do next. i'd love to travel. this warm weather has been giving me anxiety in the workplace. i'm not meant to be stagnant.

>> No.54590369

>>54590349
Good idea, don't stay stagnant for months or you will struggle to leave your confort zone.

I got laid off once, from a shitty third-shift factory job. They tried to call me back in a week later, idk what that was about but I didn't want to go back so I didn't

Good move, going back would only cement your status as a wage slave they can do whatever they want with.

Yeah, it was a 10-year journey where I became a CNC machinist, but then didn't like that either so went to school and became a database admin / software dev.

>warehouse work

i thought warehouse work was the jobs that people got when they were fired in recessions. what kind of jobs do people who were fired from warehouse get after that? where do they go, where CAN they go?

>> No.54590696

>>54590648

Past 4 weeks its been slow as hell. Have never seen it this slow for over the past 4 years. To be honest I was expecting it due to the current economic weather forecast.

>> No.54590721

>>54590648
Warehouse/factory jobs often lay people off even when the economy is "good." Sometimes their clients just stop making large orders and business gets slow. Layoffs were most common in the factory jobs I took. They're also the ones that are more likely to shutter their doors in the U.S. and open a new plant in Mexico.

Everywhere, but i'm IT by trade. Unless you have an in with a specific company it's really tough right now. I'm seeing wfh jobs getting 3000-4000 applicants if they have reasonable reqs lmao. It seems like unless you have 10+ years in the industry you'll have to settle for help desk tier work or consulting trash.

>> No.54590795

>>54590761
Consulting can be based. Often it's a company that wants you to train one of their non-technical employees to be technical and coach them in building software for the ERP or whatever

Next time get salary insurance, 90% of your previous salary for a year after being laid off, it makes being fired into something you go from fearing to begging for :$
