Has anyone felt a significant difference in their mood, energy or overall wellbeing due to taking a standard multi?

I feel this an important aspect studies don't discuss, personally I feel significantly better taking pic related for a few days then its sort of self limiting and I decide to stop.

I take a multivitamin when I can be bothered to, and I cannot say that it had any noticeable effect, but it stands to reason that it would not absent an acute deficiency like shingles or scurvy. To my knowledge, the body has no mechanism to signal an acute vitamin shortage, since vitamins were "assumed", in evolutionary terms, to always be available. An instructive case is the presence, but selective disabling, of the genes for the synthesis of vitamin C in humans. As far as I know, it's presumed that vitamin C was so abundant in the diet of hominids that key genes were switched off without deleterious effects. Since there was no scarcity of fruits, there also is no signaling mechanism for deficiency - if you eat something every day, there's no need to signal that specifically. It's enough to signal the hunger, and then the thing you're gonna eat will contain vitamin C anyway.
This is in contrast with substances which act on neurotransmitters, which do control mood. This is why substances that cause elevated dopamine-levels cause cravings: there, there's a pretty straight line from "I take this shit" to "I feel good".

As others have said, most cheap multis are useless. Solgar is the only one I would take that you can get in stores generally. You also need to take it with food, certain vitamins, like D, are fat soluble so you need to have it with some food fats for your body to absorb it properly. It's always better to get nutrients from food but I see general benefits from taking one everyday for decades so far and will continue to do so.

Jesus Christ this board is full of retards. Good catch-all supplements for almost any biznessman:

>fish oil that's very high in DHA and EPA (not all are)
>green tea extract if you don't drink loose leaf green tea
>probiotic if your gut is fucked / if your diet isn't rich in fermented foods

Zinc and magnesium should be water soluble forms. Gluconate or similar. Avoid zinc/magnesium oxide.

If you are over 40 or get brain fog/whatever, there are a few cognitive support supplements like NAC and CoQ10 that are worth looking into, they don't work for everyone though. If you are fatigued as hell, B complex supplements and maybe CoQ10 and a few others are worth a shot.

If you are really fucked up, there are some weird-ass out-there supplements you could look into, but for most they aren't worth it.

There are a few multivitamin brands that are okay, but a targeted approach is generally better.

Buy online, anything in brick and mortar sales is shit. If you want brand recs or dose recs, name a supplement category.
