bought my great uncles coin collection from my mother who was going to sell it to a shop. basically looked like a lifetime of a boomer putting silver coins from his change aside, there was over 30oz of junk silver. lots of other weird stuff too. he was collecting all nickels behind a certain date even the shit ones, I think he thought they were all silver as the war nickels were mixed in with the rest. he also had a copper penny stash with some copper scrap, thought that was weird.

this stuff was in a really small matchbox with a couple of 25 cent canadian notes. chipped ruby and what I'm pretty sure is a fake california gold token. what I'm wondering if anyone here knows is what the hell these tiny copper coins are. all five are the same, you can see both sides among them.

no. I am heavy into stacking both silver and gold, but this idea that silver is somehow going to increase in value to hundreds of times its current purchasing power is insane. Even if gold 10x's, and silver jumps to the historical 15:1, that puts 100 oz silver at 130k current USD, which is not enough to buy a house. Maybe you could make the argument that USD will devalue so much that anything worth 130k USD in today's dollars will be worth millions in future, devalued dollars, but that's hyperinflation, not an actual increase in buying power. I'm all for silver stacking but these posts make /pmg/ look like schizoposting general.

personally I just like having gold and silver at my back, it makes me feel extremely secure. I expect it to increase in value relative to most goods throughout my life, and I expect a few spikes in my lifetime as well. but no a kilo bar isn't going to buy a house unless we somehow end up with japan like rural housing conditions which isn't likely with the rampant immigration in western countries.

None, if you're talking presumably collapse/survival stuff you pick clean water. You can live for several days without food, billions of people lived their entire lives without guns or precious metals but nobody lived for longer than a couple of days without fluid. If you don't have an off-grid well or purification method of water like a still or filtration system you aren't going to make it.

Good morning lads, just got my batch of Japanese .950 silver cheapies delivered and it was even better than I hoped! 371.5g of solid .950 sterling plus a pair of some of the highest quality loaded-base shakers I've ever seen, very thicc gauge and unbelievably sturdy so I'm sure they'd yield 30+g each but I'm keeping them intact, they're way too nice to melt.

Being conservative and estimating a total weight at 430g of .950 works out to $328 melt value, the lot cost $68.80 total with shipping and tax or $5.24/ozt asw, feels good as always bros. Keep your eyes open and happy hunting anons!

Yeah, a fair amount was made and sold to Americans to bring back here in the post-war Occupied Japan period so it turns up in estates formed in the 1940s-50s. The shakers actually have reamed/cut threaded sockets and caps and are crazy sturdy, most hollow body shakers can be crushed like an aluminum can between 2 fingers but these are built like tanks. They need a vigorous polishing session but are flawless, unfortunately the other pieces are a bit dented up.

>any reliable ways to tell you're getting .950 silver?

Familiarity with the hallmarks and manufacturing techniques of genuine pieces I guess, I have never handled any Dutch .950 and only a little French .950, frogbro here is way more experienced and might be able to evaluate a pic of the hallmarks on the pieces you're thinking about.

Anon, it's possible, but highly unlikely. Forget silver correcting against the current USD value or gold ratio, and simply imagine that everyone's savings and assets were halved in value or worse over the course of a couple years. Whatever you can buy right now in pm values you can still buy with your pm values if that happens. It's not a fuckin moonshot. It's just a hedge against inflation. There is no garuntee pms will correct against any fiat currency, moreso if it's digital ones. This is the lowest risk investment you could possibly make. View it as such and start reading up on shitcoins or side businesses if you're looking for massive gains.

Why not both? I've bought and sold pms a few times in my life for small gains, but I don't view them as a moonshot. I view them as preservation of gains. Do whatever you like. I'd love to see silver make a 100x, but the entire point of stacking pms are to use them as the money they are, if that's needed. Make the reality you want to see happen now. It doesn't have to be crypto at all. I'm just saying not to delude yourself. A dollar collapse *might happen overnight, but it will certainly be precipitated by a gradual decline. There are too many foreigners holding our dollars and property. That process of USD collapse will likely take a year or 2 if not more, hell it's already happening and almost no one cares. I'm just being realistic fren. If you're hoping $2500 in today's silver value will buy you a post apocalyptic property, why not try to buy a small piece of property now or at least make more fiat to afford more gold where you're garunteed something even in today's values?

I fomo'd last year when the Russia/Ukrainian thingy started and it was a mistake. If the bank crisis settles down a bit things may cool off and we could get another comfy time to buy.
I say that as someone with a decent stack and who has been around over a decade. We are closer to the endgame than ever before, but there could very well be years before shtf. If you have no PMs I would FOMO some ounces for sure though. A bank run could very well shake enough millionaires into looking for a safe place to store their money. And as we all know, every millionaire can only have 64 ounces if they were to split the above ground supply evenly amongst themselves. Very tight supply.

I'm not much for predictions, but the housing market is one of the most artificially inflated markets there is. First of all, it is almost entirely driven by debt, which is the major portal for expanding money supply to enter the market and so a high-water mark for inflation and almost certain to continue its collapse as the debt crisis unfolds. Second, housing debt receives a huge government tax subsidy, multiplying the inflationary effect. A major economic collapse is likely to unwind all of that. Add to that a massive evaporation of capital such that people who own homes will have to sell them for whatever they can get just to eat, and you do have a perfect storm for housing prices dropping dramatically. Will housing prices drop to the point you can buy one with 100 ounces of silver? No idea. But housing prices are going to drop hard.

Untrue. I believe a true accounting of capital in the world will be accompanied by extremely high rates of interest in order to price out frivolous consumptive spending. Scarce capital will be redeployed in investing in future production and true investment opportunities will present themselves at higher rates of return than even speculative trading of BTC. People will be unloading that shit and looking for better investments and its price will collapse as well. Imagine in the 1980s when interest rates were 20%. All capital will be chasing those rates and competing assets will be collapsing.
BTC as a technology is interesting, and its use in moving money across borders is basically all it will be used for. People looking to hold it through tumultuous times are in for a rude awakening. The debt bubble is going to pop and the entire PLANET is going to be materially poorer. BTC will implode with every other intangible.

So point being they aren't going to concede in a pm vs crypto argument no matter how wrong they will feign ignorance so just nip it in the bud and ask for a stack pic.

The hard part of Keynesianism is actually building a surplus while times are good. Even last store of capital has been plundered. New workers via student loans, housing and cars, healthcare forces us into insurance companies that give our capital to Social Security. Even Social Security used to have cash and was plundered by Clinton with non-marketable securities. (They can't sell the bonds on the market so they have to tax you AGAIN to pay back your trust fund for money you were ALREADY taxed for).
This should explain why PM holders will be so wealthy. Everywhere you look you can see how the government and banks were building up a massive pile of IOUs while stealing our money every step of the way. Your cash will be plundered, and you already overpaid for every other facet of your life. All that will be left standing is physical capital assets and stores of PMs. Hell, even taking a glance at GME saga you see examples of market makers engaging in "fractional reserve" brokerage. So we don't even have a fucking clue if our ownership in a fucking publicly traded company is real or not. In the case of GME they were selling off millions of IOUs and just plain pocketing our money.
It's all a shitshow and we all better be nailing our furniture to the floor because Wallstreet probably sold it all off somehow.

Counter party risk is anything that you are reliant on to do the transaction. We tend to associate people being the counter party risk, but in reality it can be anything from hardware to software or even power. Crypto is like the worst version of a safety deposit box, in that the store of value being kept under lock and key is fictitious.

Wait until the bond market collapses and real-world scarcity is actualized. The cost of capital will skyrocket and you'll finally see whether or not your meme money is capital or not. I believe it is a function of liquidity. You can buy and sell and transact right now, but ONLY because the paper-ponzi is still standing. That is what everyone can see on the horizon and we'll all waiting to profit from. That reckoning includes a complete collapse of banks, insurance, stocks, bonds, real estate, healthcare, insurance, pensions and social security. A metric fuckton of toxic paper will be written off and everyone will be looking around like a retard wondering why all of their wealth evaporated. When everyone is in that boat, i doubt your meme money will be worth much. One bullish case is it could be used to facilitate people fleeing their countries. But other than that you are better off owning productive capital and precious metals.

This is a window. If anyone has enough capital to buy pms, do it now. For poor anons, get your food, water, energy needs squared away before looking for a quick come up. If you have a few kopeks, split your investment between pms and stonks or, monex, crypto, anything. But accumulate now. I'm not saying it's the last ride, but it might be. Everytime Bitcoin pumps these faggots come in here trying to sell their bags to people, because that's how it works, someone has to be the bag holder.

PM's have no bag holder, you buy it then you hold it. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down, but overall it holds it's value. It protects your wealth from economic woes.

Cryptos in general require someone to be the bag holder in order for you to make money off of it. You have to fool some dude into buying in so you can sell. It's very much PVP whereas PM's are PVE.

>But bitcoin has intrinsic value! It stores wealth!

No it doesn't, it's not a store of wealth because no one treats it as such. 95% of people who buy into crypto buy into it with the hopes of it moonshotting overnight so they can off load it onto others and make fiat in the process. It's just gambling with extra steps. Intrinsic value? It exists as an abstraction on a computer somewhere, much like fiat currency currently does. But even fiat currency can exist in cash form. Maybe the technology was intended to have value through it's toted hard limit of 21 million, but the fact of the matter is that no one treats it that way. No one buys Bitcoin because it "stores value" like Gold or Silver does, no one even intends to ever actually use it as a currency.

So why would i?

Not to mention the volatile state of Germany at that point in history meant that if you bought real estate during that time it was likely bombed out during World War Two and then seized by the soviets so it was actually a poor investment of your silver if you decided to buy that house for 80 ounces or whatever the cost was. PMs are actually a better investment than real estate because you can more easily hide them from the government than something like a house. I know young Americans are desperate for a house at this point in history but you’re better off just renting and stacking PMs.

They can't visualize digital wealth to scam the masses, so they just take something that looks like actual gold and slap some chip legs and transistors to it and call it a day. Hell why is it even called Bit"coin"? Call it Bit"token", Bit"""coin""" doesn't have any particular state sovereignty so it's not a coin. How can I trust a dumb Crypto fag on money when they don't even know the difference between a coin and a token?

Alright, I finally made a ranking of the silver proof versions of all of the America the beautiful quarters. If Washington Crossing the Delaware was in any of the templates it'd be GOAT material. Also, this doesn't account for either the business strike or Brilliant uncirculated 5ozt versions of these, nor the reverse proof versions. Some designs that might be overly busy or crowded on a 6.25 gram silver quarter might be incredible on a fat 5 ozt silver coin. Poor Alabama, you guys keep getting shafted by the mint.

It's a metaphor, nothing more.
4chan meme coins are also not really coins but rounds. We still call them coins. They're coins to me. Generally I hate blurring the line of definitions but in this case it's a distinction that I disagree with because it implies gov issued pieces of silves are somehow better because they have some face value in some gay fiat currency when all that should matter is silver content. Maybe that's not what the distinction is meant to convey but it seems that way to me.

In fact, since you'd rather I demand spoon-feeding than lurking proper, what's the consensus on melting down copper into ingots? My work has me tossing out decent amounts of copper wire/old propane line on occasion and I feel like it's just all going to waste. IDK how easy it is to melt your own metals though, or if copper is like aluminum where there's like 40 different grades of it. 15 seconds on Google tells me you can make a copper furnace for next to nothing if you're thrifty, but I'd rather just spend 200-300$ on a small smelter, if those even exist at that price point.
