Afternoon gang, hope your holidays are all going well. With markets opening again this week we should talk about what we are going to be adding to our portfolios. I'm thinking with markets calming but still in risky territory for some time buying big caps above 100B with strong dividend history and sound stats that have been beaten down to fair valuations is a good strategy. I'll start by saying medtronics, MDT is an overlooked play in the health sector. Their dividend payout history is like a mona lisa painting, their presence in medical technology and equipment is unmatched even by peer large and megacaps. Sure they got big with coronavirus but their pricing is back down to stable levels. Populations are aging and medical devices will always be in use. Sure you could park money in treasury bonds but you need to strike when the iron is hot, I'd rather be in great companies that will be here for 40 years out then sit on the sidelines too long.

For me its tesla if we are talking big league companies above 100B. Elon musk is an all star, tesla is the mega cap of the 21st century, you win by pushing out losers and all I see is ford and GM and the rest of the auto makers losing. I want to build a collection of killers, and tesla is a killer. It slayed giants by going from the ground up in an industry that is near impossible for new players. I'll be happy to collect my dividends when tesla is worth 3k a share and automobile competitors are on their way to the penny stock whorehouse. You know what dividends are for? Hookers and blow. Smoking weed with him when I went out to california to see his projects and discuss subsidies was a time I'll never forget. But in all honesty elon is a poor businessman, a great standup hype man but not a real elbow grease salesman like steve jobs or aggressive business builder like gates or bezos. Tesla can grow more but it has a lot of work ahead of itself to justify its very high marketcap. There is also a lot of loyal customers to auto brands outside of tesla. I just don't see tesla stopping them. I also don't see the appeal of a megacap like tesla not offering premium dividends, JNJ apple microsoft coca cola the list goes on of alternatives I'd rather park money in to collect dividends if I'm holding a company with a very high marketcap. Maybe I'd buy tesla in a few years after the nasdaq corrects and money flows away from hype.

if we ever get out of this bear market, and the uranium thesis in particular gets going. i am hoping for a multibagger, in which case you can slowly sell 10% every now and then. worst would be a huge spike in prices and stock valuations, and you miss it all.

oil companies have huge dividends, i dont tihnk leveraged products always give them. i think the oil story is so easy and obvious, the sector is cheap and the free cash flow is the best. you can buy XLE, VDE or specific companies like OXY, XOM CVX etc. for a nice dividend.

i firmly believe that the next decade these stocks will do quite well. we havent invested enough into energy. too much regulation, geopolitical issues, and demand. we just gotta get out of this bear market. but thats exactly where you want to buy them, when theyve been derisked and fear is high

It's such a bitch to get pure gas in florida. None of the shell stations sell it, so I have to settle for circle K. So it's a choice between lower quality gas that will clog my intakes with carbon because it probably has anti-detergents instead of detergents, or lower quality gas that will corrode everything because of the ethanol. And the pure gas at circle K is over a dollar more expensive. It's also 90 octane, when my car's manual calls for 91 octane. It's a small difference, but still.
Very few of the stations in KY had the "X% ethanol" sticker when I lived there. I wonder if that really meant it was pure gas, or if they just weren't required/as dilligent about labelling it properly.

Everybody that wants to shake up an industry comes to you guys and the party ends as soon as it starts. Tesla moonboys and elon fanboys from the 2010s got rich in 2021 much like ecelebs from 2016 got rich off you. And where are they now? Elon's trying to make a long in the tooth platform alive again, twitter, and you are going to the courthouse trying to copy 2016 over to 2024. I like it safe and I like it timeless, it has to be mcdonalds for me. How could anyone go wrong? Mcdonalds means money and money means my portfolio gets fat like customers of mcdonalds. Very interesting
For my perspective as an outsider* the electric motor market looks waaay hyped up.
Some people all talk like we are %100 going electric NOW, and that it's the solution to all our """climate catastrophe""" woes, but the reality is that they contaminate as much, if not more than coal, plus EMF radiation is through the fucking roof already, by adding all the new electric cars, 5g, and drones shit to cities, they will be turn into microwaves
I think globohomo is shilling it 24/7, since the electric car allows them to have a live recording and mic of you in your car, know where you are at all times, restrict the car's capibilities by remote control, etc.

By outsider I mean that for now as investments, I have a small position in PMs, and I'm working towards getting more income and jumping into smg whenever I can

Sure it will go up but I see smarter investments out there. I don't see how they can throw some new tech at their restaurants and fix problems like waving a magic wand. Fast food had some bad PR in the past few years, theres no space for mcdonalds blunt approach. You got competitors like chick fil a delivering a top down quality customer experience the staff hustles and presents themselves better, you just feel a sense of workmanship and workplace energy. It translates into better food, there just isn't pride in mcdonalds experience any more. Hell, the chick fil a guys have jesus on their side and go to church. Meanwhile ronald mcdonald goes around bullying crypto bros for fun. Upper management at mcdonalds is showing problems but you don't see it in other fast food companies.

But consider: world population growth is slowing. I don't have the exact numbers handy but my understanding is something like a fertility rate of 2.1 several decades ago, compared to like 1.8 now. There's still a positive growth, but the rate of growth is decreasing. That directly translates to less growth in the economy (less jobs, less debt, less exports, less demand etc). Especially if boomers start retiring or dying en masse over the next 10-15 years, there's going to be large gaps all over the place.
And I'm not doomposting, I just think that things are going to stop increasing as fast, gains will be harder and the economy will probably crab for some time. I'm generally defensive. I would be astounded if we have a repeat of the 70s/80s growth cycle and push into new ATHs without crashing in the next 10 years

Share dilution, typically. Most common with biotech and junior miners.
Now, in the case of UUUU, I believe that the management team was the same as the people behind Encore? Something like that. U as a sector is quite volatile and moves together. As anon said, there is a supply crunch that hasn't been priced into the markets yet, and $120-200 uranium isn't unlikely. Sprott Physical would probably be the best to take direct advantage of it, but URNM is a good general etf. Kazatom and Yellowcake have good physical exposure, too. Beware new companies formed after 2021, they might be there to pump and dump on the sector hype.

How can you refute what a kabbalistic organization says will come to fruition?

I've heard that the biggest anti-nuclear green organizations are funded by big oil. It's also not uncommon for them to buy up prime solar/wind locations and leave them undeveloped (>solar and wind) so people remain reliant on oil, coal, and gas.
The two sides of it are that big oil will continue to dominate and people will have to pay through the nose for gasoline while companies make record profits and nothing will change. EVs will not happen on a wide scale. But the flip side of that is that deglobalization seems to be occurring which makes us less reliant on China and others, leading to resource scarcity; in that case, EVs and diluted gasoline makes sense (even if it's harmful); nuclear was branded as a green energy source according to updates to the EU, so it's possible we will actually move towards that instead.

May sell some Beyond Meat Inc naked calls tomorrow. If I understand right, you want to sell and buy a call to limit your loss, ie: sell @ $20, buy at $25 - this would limit your max loss to $500.

Apr 21 has a: $17 bid @ $0.30 and $20 ask @ $0.12. So exercising this id profit $18 and risk $300 per contract (excluding commission).

1. Is this the correct way to look at it?

2. How often do trades happen between the bid/ask? Ex: The last $20 strike trade was $0.08 instead of the $0.12 ask. In other words is it best to base my trades off the last trade and set that as my bid/ask? Or will my trades sit their all day and not execute?

3. Any other advice for selling naked calls?

Reading another hentai doujin (What? Hey it keeps the mind active) This one involves a dude who moved out on his own who's from a well to do family. His mother contacts his childhood friend to quote "look after her virgin son who's afraid some gold digger will get her claws into him". The childhood friend's mother is also all for her doing it to. So both meet up and he lets her stay with him. The twist; seems she loves the helpless idiot and he loves her back. She forces the idiot to confess to her before they fuck like rabbits. She rides him and and basically forces him to give her a creampie. Well guess since both parents already approve no big shock when she gets knocked up later. Then another one, kinda the same thing only this time the girl tracks down the dude at his school and corners him in a class room. They fuck and during the deed she jerks the condom off and forces him to give her a creampie. Then since well the genie is out of the bottle now they fuck bareback some more.

Are stock option greeks accurate?

1. For example, an option delta represents the % chance it will end ITM at expiry. How are these calculations made and are they historically accurate? Considering no one knows the future and past performance is no indication of the future how are these deltas even calculated?

2. Any free sites that can show greeks / delta and % chance an option will be ITM @ expiry?

>an option delta represents the % chance it will end ITM at expiry.
No. It represents how much the option will gain or lose value for every $1 movement in the underlying. This number is greater the closer to the money you are, and the closer to the money, the higher probability it will touch or expire ITM which you can use to evaluate which strikes to pick. But your participation in the market affects the outcome, so if you sell enough of those 20 Delta options you will watch it become the 50 delta option in real time. Been there. More than once. Not fun but kind of amazing at the same time.

I invested 4k last year to test the waters. I am at 6.5k. I have AES, STLA, and RCL. I lost money on MO. Ii bought right before it crashed and didn't want to hold ad I wanted to short RCL which I did and money. Then I bought RCL and it went way up like I thought it would. I talked about all my trades on here over the year. No one thought what I did I was just mocked by my choices.
This year I made it to 7k by buying WAL at 18 and selling at 36. I still think it could go back to normal.
Tbh if I had my actual savings account I'm not sure I would be so risky. It also made my taxes annoying and I had to pay like 400 extra from it. But I sold stuff without holding.
All in all I have enjoyed doing this.
