>make me the “team lead” for a second, bigger application with more users - because they got rid of the person working with that group and replaced them with two engineers
>it’s literally double the work for me and they want faster results
>they give me a 10% raise
>get everything done, surpass expectations for a half a year, begin to ask for help and eventually for another team lead
>engineering team likes me and backs me up
> management: “heh anon we see all the work you’re doing, keep it up, you’re one of our best”
>give me 5% raise
>decide to say fuck it
>work nights and weekends regularly while my boss just takes vacation and sick days and gives 0 support

Yes. You fucked up by being the eager overachiever and didn't properly manage your bosses' expectations, so now you either have to persist on the current trajectory and risk imminent burnout and possibly kys'ing yourself, start purposefully slacking off to slowly adjust down expectations however risking having the hammer come down on you, or you quit and start over, possibly with higher pay. The choice is easy. Just don't make the same mistake next time.

can you code? if not, they at best tolerate you because you're less shitty than other PM. they'd trade you for another developer if given the choice.
