There is a huge geopolitical movement happening right now with countries moving away from the dollar. Weaponizing our currency against Russia, however justified, has made people concerned about holding dollars. In addition to that the massive inflation we have basically got offshored to all the countries that held dollars. Countries that held dollars basically got shadow taxed.

To this end foreign banks are not holding dollars in the same quantity they were before. The American dollar is only 58% of the global currency which is the lowest its been since the 1990s.

In addition to this we are now seeing countries trading in their own dollars. India is allowing other countries to now buy the Rupee and OPEC is going to start trading oil to countries like China and Russia in the Yuan.

If we don't get inflation under control and it spikes further we could see the Brics countries push their own currency. And many countries join them. You can shitpost all you want but if the emerging markets make a currency that gets even 10% of the global market (half the euro) then that eats into our margins to an insane degree.

I've found that spamming bull put spreads on the VIX offer a decent hedge if you're contained by capital. If you have the scratch to sell a put on the VIX this is also viable if you play with the strikes and dates correctly and have a good plan to dump it once in profit to your target.

Overall when the market took an absolute shit in 2022 I almost got HEEEMED.
However I rolled a lot of the spreads pretty far out and I wounded up breaking even so that was good.
Overall though during that time of doing nothing I was on the Demo account playing with other options and strategies to collect premium.
In particular I found out how well 3 things work when done right.
Back ratio spreads
Short Put Butterflies
Short Put Condors
In short, this allows you with a lot of money or very little to be directionless with the trade but still collect a credit which is very kino.

Also plus I've started spamming credit spreads on the VIX for 30 or so days out, small ones but whenever it spikes I collect an okay credit with not much risk.

For 2022 it was bad, only by 2% increase but as I said I rolled most of the spreads to the end of the year practically since a lot of them were getting heeemed in February/March. To specify these were credit spreads, bullish ones, on NDX, RUT, and SPX.
As for this year it's not as bad, overall up by 3% by the end of this quarter.
So not outrageous numbers but didn't lose anything and have decent consistency with it.

Now as for 2020-2021 was up overall by a solid 11% but that span of time was good for everyone so I don't consider it as indicative of future results.

I'm going to be real mid with you guys, while I do think telecom stocks like verizon are undervalued share wise I do not feel safe buying into them in this high interest rate environment. Maintaining their expensive network and offering all that bandwidth comes at high costs and when money is harder to acquire for cheap loans they will have to cut back on dividends, squeeze out customers. And while I do agree REITs perform well in a ROTH IRA, this is not the time to buy in. They are still too popular, and with mcdonalds facing pressures there is still room for pain in real estate. For me, its kellogs and general mills. At less then a hundred dollars a share for them, the average joe could easily build a position by allocating a percentage of their paycheck into these stocks every week or biweekly. Cash flows are strong at these staples, and there is always going to be customers buying a box of honey nut cheerios or cheez its. Shareholders in these stocks are more conservative with holding investments and the risk of selloffs are lower.

Look guys, I know we have our differences but we have to move on. The next topic is ranking oil companies. We are in a time where stocks are getting beat down but oil companies will be here for many decades to come. For me I keep it simple, exxon mobile is a top ranker, maybe chevron but I do not value the rest of the field that much, playing it safe with an ETF is sensible for most retail traders, oil is complicated like semiconductors. That is actually exactly what is problematic about having a dog with Asperger's: he arranges his treats and dinners into circle shapes. Instead of ever really eating the food, he spend 15-20 minutes trying to neatly arrange the food. He is like a beaver with toys. Instead of ever playing fetch (which gives him exercise), he just hoards toys and uses them to make this sort of indoor dam. His younger brother obviously just takes the toys from him after it's all done.

Another big drawdown of having a dog with Asperger's is that he is obsessed with light rays and monitors. Meaning, he basically tries to watch television with me, and is always staring at the computer monitor when I watch movies. That is really bad for his eyes.

But having a dog with Asperger's syndrome is actually a bit easier than owning a normal dog, because normal dogs are more boisterous and enthusiastic. Meanwhile, autistic dogs are a bit calmer.
