I reckon silver nickels are the last silver coinage that you can still find in a roll. I’ve never found a silver quarter or dime. Though seeing as I’m working, I don’t have a ton of time to carefully sort through every last coin. I just kinda pick out the ones that look the oldest and check them.

Nickels are great for coin rolling. I got $800 in quarters, dimes and nickels once. Maybe about $200 in nickels.

Found 0 quarters, 0 dimes. But i got $2 in facevalue pre 1960 nickels. Thats 1939-1959. Believe i got one buffalo as well. Im only seeing 2 war nickels right now but i think i found 4.

Not that its worth it. but pre 1960 nickels are worth about $0.15 right now on eBay. They used to go for about $0.20.

Yeah nice thing if you want to just collect them is dealers are often sick of them because they're big and don't sell so great, so you can usually get non-key dates below grey sheet value if a shop really just wants the space. I love copper - I enjoy holding it more than silver or gold but I would never, ever pay for numismatic copper. The price would have to increase 10x for you to break even on the premium you've paid but you can get the stuff for free just by keeping an eye out for it. I had a box of stripped copper wire sitting in my basement for 5 years and I finally took it to the scrap yard and got $400 for it.

The only expensive state quaters set is 1999, that's the "key" date but they still sold over 800,000 proof sets of course though that's not considering quarters weren't sold by themselves pre 2005. I just buy the whole sets because they're hardly more expensive and I like getting the proof Kennedys.
ATB is going to be the real stinker to collect down the line, Even the best selling ATB set (2010, 585,401 according to Red Book) did much worse than the least popular state set (2008, 763,887 sets also red book, or if you count the territories 2009, 697,365)
The price reflects it too, 2012 and 2020 are $150 sets right now.

Low fud energy in the same vein as infinite Ugandan gold or salt powered batteries for lithium. I've seen "silicon/copper/etc.. new incredible solar panels tech incoming!" articles like those since longer than i can remember.
Meanwhile in the real world, the new standard adopted by manufacturers for high performance solar panels are the TOPcon and SHJ techs, who consoom 2.5X more silver than the regular models.
Solar energy wont get rid of silver anytime soon, it's the exact opposite : they will always need more to enhance performances.

>New research from UNSW in Australia outlines the need for solar cell and module makers to reduce or eliminate the use of silver in their products. Based on expected PV growth, in line with climate change commitments, solar manufacturers would require at least 85% of global silver reserves, according to the new study.

Yes, it's a fine conductor. The best. But further in that article:
"Over the longer term, the recycling of older solar modules could provide a significant source of silver. However, further investment and research is needed here, and it may still be several decades before the volume of PV waste processed each year is enough for more than a marginal contribution of new silver.

"The scientists further warn against relying on the possibility of increased silver production, noting that the most accessible silver resources have already been mined. They said that opening up new mines will likely mean digging deeper or processing lower quality ores – all of which leads to increased energy consumption."

I interpret that as saying cost of production will become moot, as demand may ultimately outstrip supply. An alternative must be found.

Ultimately, the idea that promoting the use of copper is FUD is itself FUD.

Hi, thanks for the illuminating replies! I watched those Youtube videos and now I'd would like to visit that coin market in Shanghai, which is only about 30 minutes away from where I live in Suzhou. I teach English and social studies at an international school.

I watched the video Clearasvodka did about taking his coins out of China in his luggage and declaring them as currency and not precious metals if they ask, which is exactly what I plan to do too. The law says that foreigners can take less than ¥20,000 ($2,940) out of the country at a time. Pandas have a face value of ¥10 yuan and carry a spot value of ¥160 so that means you could take out a maximum of ¥320,000 ($50,000) worth of silver... which seems like an obvious loophole the government would want to patch. I'll have to keep looking into it.

I'll definitely stock up and buy as much cheap silver close to spot as I can. It does boggle my mind how it seems cheaper and more available here compared with back home, at least from the stories I've heard in this thread. (Again I haven't been in the US since 2019). I'll still be visiting China in the future so I'm curious about arbitrage opportunities moving forward for sure. Anyway, thanks for interesting feedback and insight. Good luck on your panda stacking.

It’s kinda both and it also depends on the country.
You’ve got some categories that are in a lower VAT bracket (books, some food IIRC), some in a higher (alcohol, though that might just be another tax added on top) and then there’s some random things like Gold is except from VAT (or any taxes even?) and collectibles (used to be all silver coinage in many EU countries) are only differential taxed, I.e. VAT isn’t on the whole price, but only applied to the sellers margin…
tl;dr.: it’s a complicated shitshow!
Seriously WTF? Why must taxes be so complicated?
I mean, I get it: taxes are a fact of life and they’re needed for a state to do its thing, and while I still don’t like ‘em, I can accept that.
But not only are what feels like the vast majority of them wasted on bullshit I don’t agree with and didn’t vote for, they’re also so complicated that ordinary folks are either accidentally committing tax evasion or giving away too much money, while those with an advisor can just get out of most of them. Shit sucks.

TLDR: guy comes up with a plan, researchs tax law and contacts irs for guidance and they never respond. With no guidance from the IRS and not finding any laws against it he convinces his employees to become independent contractors so he doesn't have to withhold taxes from their pay. Then he begins to pay them using only gold and silver coins using the face value stamped on them from the US gov. Going by the face value his now independent contractors make so little they fall under the required yearly income to have to file income taxes. He then begins to pay other companies using this same method. Anons, with sovereigns being 22k is it 4 full sovs + 1/4 sov that makes an ozt? I have just enough cash left to get my first 1/4 sov coin if so

>> No.54434178

>>54434113
they are 0.2354 ozt each, a quarter ounce would put you significantly over if you already have 4
I just round up desu

my bad I read that as quarter ounce. yeah a quarter sov would put you right over since it has like 0.06 ozt agw. spending extra on premiums just to make it a near perfect ounce is autistic though

You do know that there’s also fractional coins that work in the Oz system?
Just get something in 1/4 Oz, so you can get a perfect ounce with 4 of ‘em.

I personally round up four sovereigns to be an ounce of gold. It isn't exact, but there's more to sovereigns than gold content, which is the numismatic and liquidity value.

I wanna get a few so badly, but I just can’t justify the crazy premiums.

Is it normal for these big site sellers to be marking up the price of physical silver per oz by a few dollars?

>> No.54434420

>>54434347
Yes, that is how they create a profit for themselves, by fleecing people that do not know that they can get cheaper elsewhere or those that feel some added sense of security when buying from such a large dealer. Premiums have increased in recent times because of the sudden surge in demand, this often happens at times of high volatility

>> No.54434453

>>54434113
Just buy a random 1/10 oz coin every eight sovereigns that gets you close enough to an oz

Morning all! Hope your days comfy!
The thaw is taking its sweet time out here, so have a great vid by Mt Baker Mining. I wish the ground was like that here, if I wanted to drive a shaft like his I would have to timber every inch of it!

it's normal that gold and silver stock prices aren't moving on weekends, no? They'll resume on mondays and will simply pick up where they left? Can you expect a dip on early mondays generally speaking?

Just a couple at the top who helped him coordinate the plan, and his girlfriend because when they started to take him to court he moved a bunch of his assets to her name so the court couldn't touch them since they aren't married.
