What's the deal with JEPI? 11% dividend seems high. What's the risk to my principal? Currently sitting on a money market fund with day trading capital earning 4.5% and need to wait 30 days for it to broke marginable. Vs JEPI would count toward my margin now but I'm at a greater risk of market fluctuations with holding JEPI. But the 11% makes it almost worth it to take the chance. But again what's the risk of JEPI going to 0 or losing big vs the "safe" MM fund. I use quotations because nothing seems safe now

That I understand but in addition to the dividend being variable, theoretically JEPI could be traded up or down by goomblers vs my MM fund earning the risk free rate of return essentially. But how risky is JEPI really? If it really just is a JP Morgan professionally managed covered call strategy then why wouldn't I go for a dividend that is more than twice the amount of interest im earning in the MM fund. What's the risk to my principal. Theoretically I just want my day trading margin earning interest at all times and then I can have it as available margin for scalp and swing plays if the mood strikes. The difference between 11% and 4% is too great for me not to consider it.

It's all layers, and your stock is the smallest layer. Ask questions down the layers until you get to your stock. A simplified version of this for MSFT is as follows:

Is the world ending tomorrow or 5 years from now?
>No
Is America's global dominance going to decrease in the next 5 years?
>No
Is human progress going to stagnate?
>No

Wham bam I predict MSFT will be twice it's current price within 5 years. Add as many variables as you want, buddy.

The only megacap tech stock worth buying at anytime is apple. Tesla is overvalued and rest of tech megacaps are garbage companies. Either put faith in the homo italians at the premier tech company or fuck off back to your jeet company like MSFT or literal who META or awful management lmfao-mazon. Warren buffet was right in 2008, warren buffet was right in 2023, and warren buffet will be right again.

China regulates the market exchange rate
between USD/CNY within a certain range but it's not outright 'pegged', which would entail setting a fixed exchange rate directly. In this case the rate fluctuates daily given market conditions. And actually, China's forex policies have made the yuan up to 50% weaker against the U.S. dollar than it would otherwise be under normal market conditions.

Yuan internationalization is just the first step in ditching the dollar altogether.

That's what a proxy war is, kid. You send all your tanks and Javelins and trainers and drive back the commies with a minimal amount of bloodloss on your side. Confirms you're top dog, people keep transacting in your currency and signing your trade deals. Fuck that up and you end up with a Vietnam.

>No western designed jets have been used so hardly full force.
Right and when we send the first tranche of Mirages we can say no battleships have been sent either so it's still not a real matchup.

https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/09/chinas-peg-to-the-dollar.asp

>China does not have a floating exchange rate that is determined by market forces, as is the case with most advanced economies. Instead it pegs its currency, the yuan (or renminbi), to the U.S. dollar.

>By keeping the yuan at artificially low levels, China makes its exports more competitive in the global marketplace. China achieves this by pegging the yuan to the U.S. dollar at a daily reference rate set by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC)

>Because the yuan would appreciate significantly against the greenback if it were allowed to float freely, China caps its rise by buying dollars and selling yuan. This relentless dollar accumulation led to China’s foreign exchange reserves growing to a record $3.82 trillion by the fourth quarter of 2013.

If I were waving a magic wand, I'd have US bases alongside the Taliban. The culture of the people would not be the important part. At most, give them a McDonald's. Not the Afghan women's robotics team.

>do you think we were really going to use afghanistan as a springboard to invade china, russia, iran or pakistan?
Convenient ability to CIA a Uyghur uprising during a move on Taiwan? Pressure on Russia's *stan allies during Ukraine? A direct land route to Iranian protestors or even a puppet government? Shit, even cynical humanitarian aid to Pakistan during floods would be an order of magnitude easier. And that's all leaving aside any natural resources in Afghanistan.

>how is starting ww3 in our interests?
It's not. Preventing those nations from coalescing, having the threat of adjacent bases, and denying them resources is though. Wars happen when both sides think they have a shot; you don't want that kind of balance.

You are an absolute fucking moron. You don't understand what a peg is. Maybe you should get pegged.

If selling reserves to keep currency within a reasonable range is a peg, then JPY is also "pegged" - they sold a fuckload of US dollar reserves to prop it up when they broke above 150:1.
Euro is also "pegged", their central banks make a concerted effort to keep their currency sitting at a reasonably similar strength to the US dollar. Same goes for GBP. Same goes for most of the world...

When you act like a complete retard and start bullshitting definitions for terms like this, it's impossible to have a meaningful conversation. To peg a currency to another currency has a meaning. It's a fixed exchange rate over an extended duration. Ideally with the intent to be permanent, but in practice it always falls eventually.

You said that the yuan "is not" pegged to the US dollar. But.... it is, especially in practice. I just don't get what point you're trying to make by claiming that it isn't.

>(the already dead) ughyrs to revolt in china.

>The size of the Uyghur population, particularly in China, has been the subject of dispute. Chinese authorities place the Uyghur population within the Xinjiang region to be just over 12 million, comprising approximately half of the total regional population.[121][122] As early as 2003, however, some Uyghur groups wrote that their population was being vastly undercounted by Chinese authorities, claiming that their population actually exceeded 20 million.[123]

I see the problem now, you don't actually know anything about maintaining global empires.

>troops in afghanistan also does not pressure iran in any way. as irans aid to russia is only in terms of equipment,
Non-sequitur.

>the US being in afghanistan never prevented that cooperation.
Tiger rocks. But maybe you can just write out what Iran did while we were in Iraq and Afghanistan vs what they've been doing since we left both those shitholes.

>you know airplanes exist right? if it was a coup it would be a few glowies who went in anywhere but from afghanistan.
And Red Dawn is a documentary. If them Ruskies can fly over your Colorado high school, by gum, we can fly over Tehran. Logistics? What's that?

Thankfully there's a new thread. Your brain is legitimately incapable of processing words correctly.

Look at that chart. There is no fixed price at which you can cash out your US dollars for Chinese Renminbi Yuan.

JEPI isn't an ordinary equity though, it's generating premium through options plays, I think for my trading margin I want the risk free rate. Too many what ifs with JEPI for what my purpose is.

>Beating the stock market isn't the goal of this fund, and JEPI fund managers make it clear that investors shouldn't expect the high dividend yield to continue. Covered call ETFs generally perform best in volatile bear markets, which is likely why this fund was a favorite in 2022

They are all overvalued, ai is the "57 varieties“ of tech and it's probably already run it's course. Government surveillance is as big as it's going to get, propaganda same, social networks don't really have any protection from competition and network isn't worth anything because you just download a different app and it costs nothing. Employers can easily import data to new payroll processors and how many haven't moved to digital yet? If wages are being widely outpaced by inflation consumers are fucked and so is advertising.
Or maybe not I don't know I'm optimistic there will be big winners but only because there will be gigantic losers, and the only big innovation that's going to move society is self driving cars, that could be tsla but it doesn't have to be. Also diversity ruins everything so there's that
