The averaging down only worked if you sold "micro pumps", and then only to minimize overall losses. The timing of both buying the averaged down relative dips and selling the relative pumps was all critical. Holding out for "better pumps" when something is on the way down and down and down rather than selling what little pumps we were lucky enough to get just worsens the fucking. Either way, it was a fucking, but decreasing the heem is preferable to taking the entire heeming. I am sure that others are way smarter and could have just gotten out with losses and found better trades altogether and can now be fed grapes by exotic nude women.

Interesting fact. The U.S. initiated an increasingly aggressive inter-war policy against Japan only because the country invaded China after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937, violating the longstanding 1899 U.S. 'Open Door' policy which demanded that all nations enjoy equal access to the Chinese market and that Chinese sovereignty be respected. This stance ultimately produced the infamous oil embargo of '41 against Japan and prompted Japan's immediate and predictable reaction : Pearl Harbor.

Presidents John McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, and Franklin D. Roosevelt shared a deep conviction that China's massive markets and enormous productive capacity could be used to further American capital and that allowing them to come under the dominion of any one foreign power would be disastrous for the U.S. from both an economic and national security perspective. So in WW2 over 100k+ American servicemen were killed and 200k+ wounded to secure China's sovereignty and continued U.S.-China trade relations. After the unexpected reversals of the Maoist era Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton would each continue the 'Open Door' policy in their own way, first engaging with the People's Republic of China in 1972 and then finally normalizing trade relations in 2000 in a stunning diplomatic victory.

Thanks to over a century of U.S. policymaking and the sacrifice of thousands of American lives the dream of the 'Open Door' is realized today. Any American can invest in China with the click of a button. Obviously, great minds such as Teddy and F.D. Roosevelt were not confused. China is a massive asset. As Americans, to share in her wealth is a privilege our forefathers earned w/ their blood, sweat, & tears. The honor to buy is both our precious inheritance and our patriotic duty, a fulfillment of our ancestors' ancient desires, and an honoring of their timeless sacrifice.

For them Manifest Destiny did not end in CA, it sailed across the ocean & moored in China. Will you follow?

The rest is in 2x s&p 500 or similar broad indexes (in 2020 it was 30% oil 70% s&p 500)

basically you want to find undervalued sectors but stay in the market the entire time, you can short too if that's your thing. i dont usually do that though.

There are index funds that track the Hang Seng, CSI 300, and SSE Index. If you want exposure to foreign investment capital inflows and outflows, go with the Hang Seng. If you want value yuan exposure, go with the SSE Index. If you want growth yuan exposure, go with the CSI 300.

Personally I think we're seeing a period of increased capital inflows over the next couple of years to China not primarily from the U.S. so the Hang Seng will be a good index to buy or even long on the HKSE itself. I wouldn't hold Chinese assets on American exchanges due to delisting risks.

That is all. I've been doing research on the Chinese health insurance market so perhaps I'll add something about that later.

IS THE KNOW IT ALL THAT CALLED ME A RETARDED NIGGER WHEN I DESCRIBED SEEING THIS EFFECT IN REAL TIME AT THE PENNIES LEVEL HERE? LAST PARAGRAPH. EAT SHIT.

"Another feature of the BOIL ETF is its 2x daily leverage. Levered ETFs have two key features that investors should be aware of. First, they have 'positive convexity' in the direction of the bet. What this means is that one's exposure to a given underlying asset grows if the price action is in one's favour. For example, assume you invested $100 in BOIL. If the underlying index returns 5% on day 1, the position will grow to $110 (2 times 5% return). If the index returns 5% again on day 2, the position will grow to $121. This is more than twice the theoretical 2-day compounded return of 10.25% or $120.50.

If the return experience is +5% followed by -5%, investors end up with $99.00, significantly less than twice the 2-day compounded loss of 0.25% or $99.50. This slippage is due to 'volatility decay', a second feature of levered ETFs. While the 'volatility decay' may seem small on a 1-day basis, over the long-run, this can turn into very significant underperformance, especially for a volatile asset class like natural gas futures."

>RSX holders got screwed

Because they held a Russian asset listed on a U.S. exchange after 2014 and despite the hot war going on in Donbass up until the moment of the SMO. Asking for it. If they had held on Russian exchanges, they would legally be allowed to sell for a fair price.

With regards to China, an investor can easily mitigate minor U.S.-side risk by holding assets on a Chinese exchange. If what happened with Russia ("total sanctions") happens with China it's a moot point because it's a worldwide depression anyways, might as well kiss your stocks goodbye with the bankruptcies that would ensue. At least many Chinese companies are 'red chip', that is majority state owned, and thus not going to go bankrupt. Whereas the U.S. just bails out the banks and lets the companies go under because it has no financial interest not to. Exemplified in the General Motors nightmare. In China, the state is a co-participant in investing and shares the same interest you do. Plus, U.S. sanctions allow you to hold & sell at a later date which I'm fine with.

I think the Ukraine crisis exemplifies that U.S.-China relations take priority over proxy conflicts. I'm confident that somehow we will be able to sort out our differences and work amicably.

>If what happened with Russia ("total sanctions") happens with China it's a moot point because it's a worldwide depression anyways, might as well kiss your stocks goodbye with the bankruptcies that would ensue.

Sanctions would be really bad but many stocks would do fine. This would likely be concurrent with Taiwan heating up, so US defense stocks would do very well, as would companies with small China exposure or Mexico or South American stocks. Gold probably too as China would overtly move to dump Treasuries and directly attack the dollar.

The bigger issue is: the big money will get advance notice on any pending trouble, so there will not be time for a retail nobody to get out intact. You will get caught with your hand in the cookie jar.

I like your attitude friend. Let's go over the facts:
>natty at historic lows due to high supply and low demand
>demand guaranteed to skyrocket this summer (forecasts get hotter every week)
>latest that begins is in may
>speculators will probably start driving the price up a couple weeks early
>natty analysts say $2 on the may contract is the absolute minimum price

We're leveling out. Everyone likes to shit on the stock that's down 99% year/year, but watch this board start buying back in again when it crosses $5.

>Sanctions would be really bad but many stocks would do fine.

No, absolutely not. It would be a market meltdown equivalent to the 1929 crash with all the same consequences. Practically every publicly listed company would be bankrupt immediately because their revenue expectations are in some way underpinned or supported by the continued availability of Chinese exports, they would simply not be able to pay their debt and many companies would have to cease production or operation right off the bag based on dependence upon Chinese components. If Taiwan were involved and semiconductors threatened, a crisis would emerge threatening the digital foundations of modern civilization and arguably result in a worse outcome than the Great Depression. Modern cars & trucks could not longer even be manufactured.

There's no such thing as small China exposure since China is the largest trading partner of almost every country and an essential trading partner of the rest. No stock would do well when all the banks are bankrupt, I'd like to add that prediction on as well, if you thought the subprime mortgage crisis was bad every bank would be insolvent overnight in this scenario.

Any crisis in China would immediately and radically translate to a global financial crisis of monstrous proportions, so again it's a moot point. Your shares are gone anyways. If the collective West wants to develop India for 40 years perhaps then they will be in a position to 'decouple' from China.

The capital stock of China is $99 trillion as estimated by FRED. The capital stock of India is $34 trillion as calculated by FRED. This leaves a deficit of $65 trillion in value between the economies of India and China in commercial investment alone. Not including working infrastructure and human capital which together is more difficult and costly to generate.

The GDP of the European Union is $16.6 trillion dollars, the GDP of the United States is 23 trillion dollars. They spend ~50% and ~25% of GDP on government expenditure, respectively — resulting in a total combined current annual government expenditure of $13.75T.

If they were to somehow collectively raise 20% of combined expenditure in taxes and send it off to India, it would take them 23 years to just invest that amount in the country, while causing mass defaults and intense financial burden in their own countries as a result of the radical policy. And the hilarious part? It wouldn't be to add any new value, merely to replace the value China provided. So the markets would crash and slowly rise back to their original position over 23 years.

This is not even including public infrastructure or human capital generation. When we begin to talk about highways, roads, bridges, train systems, clearing out slums, educating the millions of illiterate ... we begin to see that this project would take 40 years of ridiculous struggle at the least. Obviously the politicians would be thrown out year 1 of such a stupid and ridiculous plan once the tax bill comes in and the bankruptcies start.

I personally wasn't expecting some sudden moon spike, but the price of BOIL had dropped a massive ton and at the time if you went and looked at the futures contracts going all the way into Jan 2024 you'd have seen a nice ramp upwards from June into Oct then a decent enough jump in Jan to $4.50 per unit (contract price, not BOIL). Now that the CONTANGO has been doing its thing that Jan contract dropped to sub 4 and all the ones between here and there adjusted downward, and here we are at BOIL TREE FIDDY.
