can someone tell me why everyone says "teams sucks" or whatever? I don't understand what the expectation is it works as well as any other chat app as far as I can tell

For me it's: stops working in middle of call and closes, doesn't detect camera and have to turn off and on again, voice and video calls work once in a blue moon, can't share screen most of the time because well because according to IT I have to log off and on again and if it doesn't work empty the cash. Its utter shit

>it works as well as any other chat app as far as I can tell
My experiences with MS Teams:
Video chats regularly glitch out, video and audio feeds often drop or don't connect predictably in the first place. The usual solution is to restart Teams, which often fixes things, indicating it is a shitty software problem as opposed to user error.
There are inadequate controls over income feeds in the UI - the auto-sizing of multiple feeds often cuts some video feeds in half. It makes no sense. Apparently Teams v2 is going to force all users to display with equally sized video boxes even if they don't have video on, which is going to be fantastic for meetings where 4 people are on screen and 20 people are just observing.
The software is extremely slow in general, both in startup and in loading group chats and shared documents.
The UI is, to me, unintuitive and an exemplification of awful flat UI design.
It requires a MS account, which MS insists on being tied to a phone number and personal identity for no good reason.
It encourages having multiple accounts for different purposes but doesn't have a clear way of differentiating them. I have a "personal account" and a "corporate account" that both have the same name and are tied to the same email address. When I start up teams one of the accounts will automatically log in, sometimes it's the corporate account and sometimes it's the person account. I have no idea how it picks between them and it isn't obvious which is which because the identifiers are the same.

I have been forced to use teams about once a week for the last two years, and easily 50% of meetings exhibit some problems with the basic function of just being able to have people connect and be seen/heard.

Good luck finding anything relevant with its search functionality. It's pretty bloated too, it has so many different features that nobody uses. Screen share capabilities are subpar, but this is acceptable considering its for collaboration, not for remote control. Overall, it's alright but nothing to write home about.

Insane ram usage
Complete RNG what happens when you plug in headphones in during a call. From not switching to it, to complete software crash.
Rostie face smoothing filter built in
Application screen share works about 10% of the time, end up sharing a whole monitor as that is actually relyable
Copy/Paste images give you a HTML base64 string
Copy/Paste mid line fucks up and gives you a username 60% of the time
Text editing breaks for any message longer than a few lines
You can expand and image exactly once
Sharing the same file name overwrites the file in another chat window
Took about 18 months for them to fix the Close image button directly over the end call button
Once a month everyone will appear offline for a few hours

41 year old executive in tech and have had 5 successful exits. I don’t download slack and let the orgs know that an email or call will suffice

The seethe that founders have on their face when I communicate this is worth it’s weight alone.

I’m 5x more productive and focused than anyone else.

Slack and instant messaging are terrible for executives, let the engineers and sales team wallow in slack.

Yeppers, I work about 10hr/week max. I spend more time walking my dog and playing vidya than actual, solid work. My job will be replaced by AI within the next few years, without a doubt.
