I do live in a more rural area semi-near the house in the pic, it's great if you are one of the few around these parts with a good enough income and you like a slower pace of life.
The problem with Illinois is that it's a bankrupt, bureaucratic, and corrupt state. This is not new either. I'm fine living in a small town but if I'm to do so I prefer to be in a state that won't tax and regulate me to death.
The property taxes on this are likely still over 2k per year and rising rapidly to pay for all the tiers of local government and pension programs. Again I'm from a rural area in the midwest and I like it but it's not a free lunch.
