FOMOd into gold starting Jan 15th of this year. 2.75 oz gold, 150 oz silver. Working on getting more silver to maintain a ~100:1 ratio. Wife is expecting our first child, need to keep some cash around for unexpected expenses. ~$23/oz average for silver, $1850/oz average for gold.

>safest place to get physical silver and gold
cheapest I've seen is the reddit forum r/pmsforsale. if buying from anons on the internet spooks you then your second cheapest option is ebay. third option is likely your local coins store if you have one. not as cheap as reddit or ebay, but likely cheaper than your fourth option—online dealers such as apmex, sd bullion, etc. make sure to shop around and compare how much you'd be paying with each option
>where is a safe place to sell it
you will get absolutely fleeced selling back to pawn shops and coin stores. like very badly fleeced. if you want to retain some of the premiums that you paid for each item I'd recommend selling secondhand to anons on reddit or among other coin dealers on ebay.

>>54322633
if you have around 5k then you're in the right budget for one or two ounces of gold. gold has way less fees attached than silver so you'd get more of your money's worth. you'd also lose much less if you ever wanted to liquidate. if four grand on a mere two ounces of gold isn't your thing then you can get some higher end silver items like kilos and 100oz bars. those will have less premiums compared to 1oz rounds and the like. think of it like buying from a big box store like costco rather than a place that sells things individually like a gas station convenience store.

>> No.54322710

>>54322674
well of course if you hypothetically had hundreds of thousands in metals saved up you're better off getting it liquidated at a dealer (likely the only place that could afford to buy off you), but I'm mostly referring to amounts under like a few hundred

Right now is a tough time, lots of people flocking to PMs from the recent bank failures shaking peoples confidence. Spot price is up a little bit, but premiums are up a lot. A month ago, spot was $21, and you could pick up a generic round for $24. Now spot is over $23, but generics are trending up toward $27, even to $30 at some of the worse sites. If you’re familiar with using reddit, PMsforsale is a decent community as long as you buy from trusted sellers there (people with lots of past sales, line >25 or >50). The place as become a hotbed for scammers recently though so watch out for yourself.
Regarding what to buy - I stick to government issued stuff, generic rounds like Buffalo, or 10 oz bars for stacking raw weight at a reduced premium. Collecting specific/niche rounds is fine if you’re into that, but they’re harder to liquidate and won’t hold value. On the other hand, buying American silver eagles will happen at a premium (pretty high premium, like $10 right now in the best case scenario), but you’ll be able to recover some of that premium selling them.

I don't look at PM stacking as a retirement plan. If you think the world is going to muddle along as it is now, there are better ways to plan for retirement - like IRAs etc. PMs are for securing generational wealth against social and economic storms that devastate normie investments.

When I start wondering if this strategy makes sense, I ask myself (and any fuds who appear here) to suggest an alternative. Stocks and real estate are in the ICU living on a debt IV that is getting pinched off. Bonds might have a place in the portfolio if interest rates keep climbing, but will be eaten up by inflation eventually. Crypto? No thanks. I'm not a gambling man. That's why I choose a place to park my wealth that has a three thousand year track record and is patronized by the uber-elites in the Central banks of the world.

But I have fiat income to live on. In the current economy, living day to day by trading PMs for fiat is silly and nobody suggests doing that. On the other hand, the day WILL come when the opposite will be true and trying to buy anything with fiat will be silly because nobody will want it. And PMs will still have value. When that day will come is anyone's guess.

If you are a young person and you have an income, I would suggest putting some of it in PMs, keep enough in fiat for day to day expenses and emergencies, and use some for leveling up your skill set so you can increase your income. If you don't have an income, you should try to find one. Hoping for a crypto or PM moonshot to save you from working is like the kids in Compton thinking they are going to get rich playing basketball.

don't listen to what people say like it's gospel. his first bullion dealer suggestion was apmex, so he's clearly struggling with basics of life. you can sell to LCS with some negotiating and shopping around for good deals, also on ebay down the line. ideally, when you go to sell, it'll be decades down the line, when the spot price has gone up a lot. but your never sell. looking at PMs from a "traditional" normie investment perspective is a distortion.

Shop around this weekend for the best price on a gold coin, not bar. Use the remainder for cheap silver rounds, not coins or kilos. This will change as time goes on, but as you're late to the game, you're going to want to have silver rounds over a chonky kilo at first.

>most americans have zero savings
Most Americans are autonomous meat puppet consoomers. I'm a simple wagie. I don't spend money on retarded shit, besides cigarettes. Started stacking beginning of last March. I'm at 800+oz silver and 2.5oz gold. Having zero debt helps. Know what else helps? If you STOP BUYING STUPID SHIT. I'm pissed every time I buy a carton of smokes, but it's an addiction I just can't quit, no matter how hard I try. Other than that, I don't drink alcohol, and when I go out with friends I realize how much they spend on booze, and it adds up quick. I cook for myself and very rarely eat out, and never order out. I don't need the newest iphone, and my laptop is over a decade old.

TL;DR
Stop consooming and your stack will grow quite fast.

He was a collector given his age he got all that shit for cheap, probably 30k in total coins by the end of the auction with some rare stuff going for $100+ a piece. That’s barely anything today. As impressive as it was laid across the table, the thing lacking was sheer weight. Gotta stack that weight.

Now the flask with investment hardened has entered the firing kiln/oven. It will go through a step by step process of increasing heat until it reaches 1322 F over the course of 12 hours. At the end the flask temperature will decrease to around 1150 F at which point I will pour 1100 C sterling into the voids left from the burnout. The flask is upside down to facilitate the wax pour-out and burnout of the castable 3d print resin.

I print them myself using siraya tech castable LED resin. Some dear anon made a KEK frog and put it on cults3d with no copyright restrictions (Creative Commons accessible) and I began a long process of making them casting-friendly.

Using castable 3d print resin to make my “positives” is one of my new twists on the process I was taught. Most casting is done with wax positives ordered out of catalogs. The manufacturer uses galvanized rubber forms formed off an original piece made by a jeweler and practically all of the pieces are charms or jewelry, no statues. There are a few guys out there doing what I’m doing, but not many.

My $20k stack). The jewelry tools were another $400. The 3d printer was surprisingly cheap at $210. The resin is $100 a liter of which I’ve gone through 2 L.

I bought most of this using a company credit card as I’m doing this to make money for the company I operate. Suffice it to say, I’m a long way from breaking even.

I was more thinking about the proliferation of PMs. Some have a lot and most have a little. We’re already seeing a correction and governments stockpiling. I could see the price slowly rolling higher and greater adoption through inertia. Interesting times ahead.

prices are absolutely outrageous, they are consistently the most expensive. also, shipping takes forever and a day. and for no benefit, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
>but muh inventory
i can't ever recall them having something exclusively that no one else had in stock. people say maybe if you're after really obscure stuff apmex will have it, but i feel like that's just thrown around by parrots wanting to sound helpful. I'd sooner meet up with toothless crack addicts under a bridge and start sucking diseased dicks while making eye contact for bullion before I give apmex a dollar.

No, the polar bear was marked up too much for my liking, something like 1.75x of a silver maple. The 2oz sabre-tooth cat was the same price as two 1oz silver maples, so I figure I'd get it for funsies.

Bong anons, it's fucking over

>As part of his drastic plans last November to put the country's public finances back on track, Jeremy Hunt announced cuts to the amount of capital gains that people can crystallise every year – for example on the sale of shares or assets – without incurring a tax charge.
>So, from the start of the new tax year in 11 days' time, the annual tax-free allowance will be cut from £12,300 to £6,000. Then, from April 6 2024, it will suffer another fierce shave, down to £3,000

>Hunt has applied a similar cut to the amount of annual business dividend income investors and shareholders can receive tax-free. This will halve next month from the current £2,000 to £1,000, and halve again in April 2024 to £500.

This fucks small business owners more, like a tradie that owns their own ltd company as a shareholder could take out an extra £2k tax free from the business account as 'dividends' on top of the £12.3k maximum income tax allowance.
Lowering CGT is the biggest fuckery for /pmg/ anons, imagine being allowed to sell not even two 1oz gold bars a year before being hit with 20%+ CGT on everything you earn over £3000. Sovs and Britannias ONLY from now on
