Depends.
Individual companies, especially smallcaps in the US, are quite easy to manipulate. EUR/USD is also highly manipulated because banks can literally set the exchange rate to any value they want midday to fuck forex day traders. Gold/USD is less manipulated because of the nature of it being a commodity and highly traded and valuable on international markets. VIX is arguably manipulated because a lot of the calculation is pushed to be frontloaded due to the high volume of 0dte trades

Brap gas is an energy commodity, which makes it quite hard to manipulate. Not to mention the prices aggregated from many hubs and distributors. It wouldn't surprise me if there is some manipulation going on via order book fuckery and such, but unless there are several groups working together, it would be difficult to suppress the price that low for so long, so I figure some of the price action should be legitimate

But on the other hand, natty is a winowmaker for a reason, due to its unpredictability

>The Central Bank of Nigeria Just Paused Its Demonetization Program After Visiting Untold Damage on Nigeria’s Economy
>Three months after the central bank launched demonetisation, economic conditions in Nigeria continue to deteriorate. Now, one of the country’s leading media organizations is calling for the arrest and prosecution of CBN’s governor.
>Nigeria is the world’s first largish economy to launch a nationwide central bank digital currency, the so-called eNaira. So far, it has been a complete flop. One year in, just 0.5% of Nigerians had downloaded the eNaira app. Of those, only 8% were actually using it, according to the IMF’s 2022 staff report. So, the government and central bank doubled down on their strategy. In October, they unveiled plans to replace all high-denomination cash bills in the economy as well as restrict cash withdrawals. That, too, has been an unmitigated disaster.

BOILers/OILers, listen to this and make your own decisions, plot your own paths. Just because something took an incredibly large dump recently doesn't mean it's going to have anywhere near a correspondingly large pump anytime even within the next couple of years without something real world fundamental supporting it.

https://www.morganstanley.com/ideas/thoughts-on-the-market-oil-energy

My take, if you are sunk up in losses, there will likely be some relatively small pumps ahead, and some pretty decent ones in the Fall/Winter, that you can take advantage of by averaging down at lowest lows and selling the little hills, to build back up, or just find better trades altogether. Of course, there is always the possibility of a surprise mooning out of nowhere. As with any gamble, the call is always yours to make.

YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN TO HOLD EM
KNOW WHEN TO FOLD EM
KNOW WHEN TO WALK AWAY
KNOW WHEN TO RUN
YOU NEVER COUNT YOUR MONEY
WHEN YOU'RE SITTIN' AT THE TABLE
THERE'LL BE TIME ENOUGH FOR COUNTIN'
WHEN THE DEALIN'S DONE

That's just life in the Mediterannean climate of California. We are supposed to be pretty dry for 10-20 years then get assraped by heavy rains. That is literally why California produces a gargantuan amount of agriculture - the floodplains in the central valley that collect snowmelt from the east and rivers from the coastal mountains. This dry -> flood climate cycle for Cali is also an explanation for why Tulare Lake used to be the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.

California's massive agriculture industry relies on these floods. During floods sediment is deposited onto floodplains, which creates good soil for agricultural uses.

Yes, that is Big Almond (TM) industry in California at its worst. Not only does it require a ton of water, but also needs a huge beehive import complex to sustain the damn almonds.
As someone who wants California to not just divert all that freshwater to farms, I can understand why everyone hates the California Almond industry.

But as a slimy dirty /smg/ kike? There is a loooot of money to be made when you're producing 80% of the world's almonds in just one state. The entire world eats almonds, pretty much every continent imports a lot of it. It's a remunerative operation with margins wider than other agricultural receipts California has. The entire almond industry in California stays afloat despite massive opposition for one very obvious reason: it makes a fuck ton of money and everyone who supports it has their pockets lined.

You know what hasn't been said for a pretty good stretch now?

"you never listen, you hate making money, you always call me a nigger".

Just so it's clear, I'm not at all taking that stance personally here, just purely pointing out that it has absolutely ceased from its usual source. I myself still appreciate him for turning me onto things that caused me to learn a lot fast (relatively to the utter cluelessness beforehand), and that includes his suggestions of keeping enough liquidity on hand for averaging down, which wound up being absolutely essential to minimizing my losses. Eh, maybe, but there are profound fundamental differences in how the prices of those 2 are formulated and function, and in the real world circumstances of their underlying assets. And I personally was all in on BOIL until getting semi-heemed (would have been closer to fully if I didn't work the averaging down and swing between pumps and dumps some) caused me to take a deeper look into how both the asset and the equity even function. And...AND...the more I do that, the more I realize how fuckin' *mysterious* those are!!! It ain't a cut and dried "winter up/summer down". Just look directly at the long term Henry Hub contracts going into 2024...there ain't no moonin' in there, and as the contracts settle, the contango averages them down. I started seeing that early into my lookin' into shit but still figured "eh, if it stays above 4 it will at least go to 7 or some shit in the Fall/Winter" but the more it drops the more relative everything starts to look to where even 6 might be considered a good pump from whatever low it winds up hitting.

Weak response. You're displaying a very poor understanding of risk management. None of what you said refutes my point.
If you think it's a good idea to debt-max and buy up new properties right now, go for it. Cap rates as present yield less than treasuries though, so you're entirely speculating on the property value increasing in the short term.

As for me, a portion of my portfolio will continue to sit in treasuries to be redeployed when valuations are better. If that never happens, the remainder of my portfolio continues appreciating anyway. I'll live.

>Buying BOIL now would be the epitome of buying when there's blood in the streets
*That's* what appears to be simple/obvious, but if you spend enough time actually watching the contracts all the way into 2024 you'll start getting some serious fear for your capital. Nowhere near pro tip: when I first bought into BOIL, Jan 2024 was projected to be 4.50, and everything that came before it was higher as well. I thought oh, no big deal, no worries, I'll just hold till Dec or Jan if need be and make my bank then, but shit just does not work as simply as I thought it did when I first bought in, at which point I essentially thought exactly as you presently do. It seemed like a no brainer to me at that point and I was counting my money while I was sitting at the table, but the dealing was far from done...

I did that I think twice, sold on green for the day but still red overall, but there was no way for that to have happened without the injection of new shares at the lower levels to have something to push up from the bottom with.
