I "started" trading about three months ago but almost did nothing, just let my money sit there. A month ago I started betting on earnings and I doubled my money in the span of two weeks. For the past two weeks I didn't bet on any stocks because I couldn't find not even one that I liked. Problem is, if the earnings are not that interesting I can't even move the balance of my account. Could you anons recommend some books I should buy or some webinars I should view on YT or just any resources really. I want to get into day trading. I'm interested in trading stocks, ETFs, Forex, or just anything really that's not crypto.

Open interest is how many options contracts are bring held, volume is how many have been traded that day.

If you want advice just look at what hedge funds are doing, if there are several hundred contracts for calls across a few strike prices you probably don't want to buy puts.

In a nutshell, companies tend to have quarterly conferences. If the company did well and has a bright quarter ahead, the stock goes up (like duolingo did a +20% in aftermarket). If the company does well, but the next quarter might be a bit worse than the current one, they stock goes down a bit. If the current quarter was bad and the next one will be bad too, the stock may go down more than 10% in the aftermarket.

Risky + you need to read some about the company. For example GOL (a Brazilian airline I believe). There were more passengers on the airplanes on average this quarter than the last, which makes the stock go up. Then there's Canadian Solar. They announced they made a deal with Japanese companies or Japan idk. The point is, they announced three projects that are going to take place in Japan. That means they are going to have a great income. Stock went up +10% aftermarket.

A complete guide to volume price analysis. But also look into her recommendations of books to read as well. The new trading for a living is a good trading psychology book, but also has some good tips, Japanese candlestick charting techniques and beyond candlesticks, currently reading technical analysis of stock trends 4th edition. it's pretty solid for western candlestick patterns while the japanese candle stick books give into on eastern candlestick patterns. Both are very helpful, but the trick is you don't need to learn every single pattern, just use the ones that work for you when you're doing your own analysis.
Lastly you just need practice losing some money. Do small trades and not big ones or even paper trade. I find losing real money puts a fire under you to learn as much as you can so that you can make money while mitigating major losses. GL anon.
