Yes. My first job was making concrete statues for some old Italian guy. He was actually a very nice man. The only two other employees were ex-cons who shared stories of their prison time often. I was 16, this was 2008 so I was paid 7.50/hr cash which was pretty decent for the time. The job consisted of mixing concrete and filling up rubber molds with the mix, then putting another hard shell that went over the mold and sealing it with a pneumatic drill. One day I did about 30, then told my ex-con coworker to tell the old Italian guy(who would always disappear) that I couldn't come in the next day.

Turns out he didn't show up either, and never told the old Italian guy. So I came in the day after and he was pissed because all the statues were ruined, as they can't be left in the molds for too long or some shit. He basically told me "You are a lazy kid like most teenagers. Maybe you should get a regular job for kids your age like McDonald's or something... do you want me to pay you out and be done with this or do you want to continue working here?" I thought about it for like 5 seconds and told him to just pay me. It felt bad. I had been a good worker up until then so it was kind of fucked up he did that considering I was only 16. I had been getting scared working there though because one of the ex-cons told me that the other one "really liked" me a few times, and I always noticed him staring at me. That guy was huge and jacked and served 7 years in Marcy in upstate NY, and told me stories of him cracking some guys skull open during a prison fight. So I was understandably scared of being ass raped.
