What are you doing with your IRA right now, /biz/? Mine is 100% cash right now, since stocks are shitting the bed and a banking collapse will make it worse.

Fidelity recently began offering bitcoin and I'm seriously thinking about allocating 50% to BTC and 50% to a gold ETF.

I'm also mostly cash. There's nothing I feel good about sticking my money in.
Retirement accounts are a scam. Shoulda bought some rare antique stuff, physical gold, self custody bitcoin and ammo with the money instead of handing it over to those rats. Even the "cash" positions are some money market bullshit so they can profit off of playing with your money while you're trying to be in cash (no FDIC insurance lol).
I don't know what's wrong at Charles Schwab but the stock was cut in half. They just merged TD Ameritrade accounts over there.

IRA?
As in, fund you can't withdraw from until you're 60 years old?
What's the point? Finance as we know it will not be around that long. If you have to have one for tax reasons, leverage barbell strategy is the way to go.

Fidelity offers Bitcoin now? How does that work? I currently have an AltoIRA so I can trade crypto but I’d rather just use Fidelity since that’s what where I have my brokerage acct

Employer match is money on the table. I contribute 5% of my salary tax free inorder to get a 5% match by my company.
>leverage barbell strategy
What's that all about?

Fidelity offers BTC and ETH now. I looked into it more and I'm not sure I can actually buy BTC with my IRA funds. I'll call tomorrow and ask. My current employer is switching our 401(k) over to Fidelty though, and they are enabling BTC for that for sure. I work in crypto, so everyone is stoked about that.

If my IRA can't buy bitcoin, then I might just move all of it to SGOL ETF. I feel like cash is going to get inflated to shit by the money printer.

My 401k and IRA are old man money. 100% stocks, buy every paycheck, never sell, never exchange assets. Just buy and hold for 30+ years. It may not be perfect, but it's easy to stick to and stops me from making huge errors.

- There are strategies to get money out early if you really want to, like a roth conversion ladder.
- Once you hit 40, 60 will seem a lot closer than it does to you now.
- The benefit is saving money on taxes.

I recommend you put at least half of it in stocks. Source for picrel is Seigel's book and there are some updated versions floating around if you look.

I think an S&P 500 index fund would be a set it and gorget it choice under normal circumstances, but it seems like the economy is a trai wreck tight now and I my IRA already lost thousands of dollars over the past year or so. That's why it's all cash right now and I'm thinking gold for the short term. It won't tank like stocks and it won't get inflated. Seems like a safe haven until stocks are safe again.

doesn't really matter, if you bought the very tippy top in 2007 before the global financial crisis and held without selling, you'd be massively up by now.
set some time aside and watch this sometime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kInFpxmZPY
