You idiots, Powell doesn't need to raise rates 50 bepis or any at all. During banking turmoil, all of the banks cut back on lending to built capital reserves because they don't want to be the next one to have a run. That's why the Fed is letting the minor banks fail, wiping out equity holders. He's scaring the rest of the industry straight. New loan formation is dropping to basically fucking zero because it's finally clicking for bankers that the higher rates means they're undercapitalized. Why they didn't notice before SVB failed? Who knows... but they're probably retarded. Either way Jerome is finally getting his desired effects now. There's no need to raise rates even further. He'll probably lower them just to make the banks feel a little safer... but even if he does lower the banks are still on edge enough that they won't go back to lending, not until they're confident that they're capitalized enough. So basically Jerome is playing 36 dimensional chess with the banks and you idiots can't even draw a god damn line

So the 2 year being higher, forming a positive yield slope, indicates more rate hiking between now and then. A lower 2 year indicates a market expectation of rate cuts.

I was watching one analyst just now saying how the reason the Fed was able to lower rates in the past was because core PCE was lower than 2% so it wouldn't risk inflation rising again.
That's no longer the case now, core PCE is too high for their old tricks.

And if the market is wrong what happens tomorrow, does the shit n piss immediately start tanking if Powell says "we're not cutting, motherfuckers" because it would have to start pricing that in?
And I don't even know if that would necessarily happen because the market could just keep fighting. It's all so confusing.

Maybe. If you treat it like people treat stocks here (bagholding, hoping for a turnaround and trading as big as you can), then yes, you'll get fucked. Best to not even think about daytrading futures without relatively tight stops and accepting the consequences of that fully.

It's a chicken and egg situation, because generally recessions kick off when bank lending tightens up. They may do that because they're afraid about depositors making a run on their capital or they may do that because the bond market is forecasting lower rates/recession very shortly.

This is a separate question. The 2 year bond price is not the bond market's pricing of 0 vs 25 vs 50 bps tomorrow.

>does the shit n piss immediately start tanking if Powell says "we're not cutting, motherfuckers" because it would have to start pricing that in?
That's expected and it's unclear exactly how equities would respond in turn. However the 2 year is a bet on the meeting after this one, plus the meeting after *that*, and so on.

“Our government rests upon religion. It is from that source that we derive our reverence for truth and justice, for equality and liberality, and for the rights of mankind. Unless the people believe in these principles they cannot believe in our government. There are only two main theories of government in our world. One rests on righteousness and the other on force. One appeals to reason, and the other appeals to the sword. One is exemplified in the republic, the other is represented by despotism.

The government of a country never gets ahead of the religion of a country. There is no way by which we can substitute the authority of law for the virtue of man. Of course we endeavor to restrain the vicious, and furnish a fair degree of security and protection by legislation and police control, but the real reform which society in these days is seeking will come as a result of our religious convictions, or they will not come at all. Peace, justice, humanity, charity—these cannot be legislated into being. They are the result of divine grace."

Based anon, I've been researching this the past few weeks, South Korea is absolutely fucked. The ETF ticker for South Korea's economy is EWY, the chart isnt quite ready yet, but I check it every day and my mouse cursor is hovering over the put side of the options chain just waiting for the right moment.

tl;dr puts on South Korea ticker EWY

Btw fuck South Korea, they are rude assholes, borderline Leftie SJWs, who suck US tax dollars like the worst welfare queens via the US military bases, and then have the nerve to call us "colonizers". Yes, I've been to South Korea many time before for work. The average Korean is in debt up to their eyeballs buying the latest plastic surgery and clothing trends and VIP booths at the club. Korean boomers have no money and are either running one of a billion fried chicken restaurants or are literally homeless. Their "jeonse" form of renting, a unique form of renting out apartments not present in the West but makes up a huge share of Korean lease agreements, is a giant ponzi scheme that is set to collapse.
Short the shit out of this overvalued, artificially manufactured shithole of a country. EWY, anons, EWY.

I later found out that pubs have designated woman rooms and I'd eaten in the woman room by accident. I also had a glass of wine with that meal instead of beer so the probably thought I was 100% homo.

Fed decision: financial stability more important than inflation, says JPM strategist.

Basically this is what my entire thesis has been built around since last June. Push comes to shove, JPow and Yellen will pick stability.

That doesn't mean they don't care about inflation at all. It just means they will tolerate moderate inflation with a target of ~4% not be rigidly adamant about their original 2%.

Well no, they'll count your earnings in taxes but not the losses. So you'll pay tax on 10k in income and only have made say 2k. It counts you going from -10k to +2k as 12k income.

So you can't even lose on a trade after rebuying too early because the loss doesn't count unless you haven't bought or sold the same stock 31 days both ways.
