Why do governments operate with huge amounts of debt? If I personally feel more financially stable than most of my peers because I don't have credit card debt, wouldn't a country be a lot more financially stable if it only spent money it actually had? Is this why US govt doesn't want you to withdraw money from bank?

Debt isn't bad per se as long as you have the economic prowess to increase your earnings. Think of debt as a crutch that allows your country/company to move larger quantities of money.
