Without a contract stating your payment and not having any qualifications or union membership there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. I and my friends have been scammed by assholes like this before, they are everywhere and it's a fact of life.
Don't look at it as a scam but a valuable lesson, you got real world experience and some money, and in lesson in how employers act.
