The rate of supply is known. If gold gained traction as a reserve currency, then that rate would increase. But think of the capital investment involved to mine more gold? Does it make sense if there's already a tool to transfer value available like Bitcoin?
BRICS and some central banks have been buying gold, but I'm sure they have large allocations of Bitcoin also.
