Yeah it was nice. I just got back from a week long vacation to the Smoky Mountains. There was a pretty nice little coin shop, I ended up buying every silver dime they had (they only had $5 FV left, but that's enough to fill another tube) and spent $35 on a nice looking seated liberty 1853. Yes I know it's a somewhat common date, but it's in nice condition with awesome toning, and also for being 170 years old I think it's pretty neat. Also got a 1976 Canadian 50% commem dollar and a big fat british penny. Side note....

Flipping channels a few minutes ago, I stumbled on the "Home Shopping Networks" "Coin Collector" sales segment.

The current pitch is on 1kg silver bars for $1399.95

For those doing the math, that's $659.95 over spot; a markup of 89%.

A few things come to mind...
> the balls on them for the markup. They're selling it as "you don't have to buy it on the streets, you can trust us that it's real silver at weight"
> if they are mass marketing silver at such inflated rates; that means we're probably near the "peak" of a 2-5 year trend.
> in the short term, it's going to put a large amount of supply to sleep; as buyers remove it from the population while parking it in the closet for decades

But that’s actually a good price! It’s not even double spot! I can post some pics from some ads for gold with even larger markups, which are hidden behind retardedly small sizes and “50% off!!!” Prices.

Yale is fun! If the bedrock is exposed, look to the high water mark, and dig below the boulders up on the bedrock where the high water rested them. Some of those bowls end up filled with magnetite and fine gold, as well as hug red garnets. Its great territory to wander, to see what the old timers saw all a century ago.

yeah, I've been listening to that too
since 2008, and since 2020
they all said similar things, but the reality was that it was a slow burn after a small sudden crash rather than a total and complete collapse
the current housing market bubble has already popped and is currently deflating, but the bottom of that isn't realistically gonna bottom out until reasonable projections into 2024 before a housing market recovery sometime after 2027 and onwards
this current banking collapse is not gonna happen overnight, in days, weeks, or maybe even just months, but will probably last the rest of the year and follow into 2024 as well, with maybe the last vulnerable banks needing bailouts byt summer 2024
the prices of PMs are likely going to fluctuate heavily in the coming years, with so much uncertainty and public hysteria, prices will skyrocket and plunge like we've never seen
I am currently saving up and waiting for the next plunge below $20 for silver and below $1700 for gold, maybe over the summer, cause after that they might shoot up again to $25 and $2000 again, and maybe even silver could break $30 and gold $2200 who knows
but yeah, careful planning and forethought should be undertaken to consider the possibilities and prepare for what is to come

We're currently seeing prices of gaming-cards moving into the price-range of adult-hobby rather then children's hobby, which makes perfect sense.
4090 = golf-club instead of tricycle.
There also isn't really much of a difference between professional and gaming-cards these days, .. other than the drivers and a few limited deactivated features, those comparable to the current gaming high-end have always been in a similar price-range.
Pic related was in the $2000 range released in the late 90s.

Do any of you normie niggers use gold and silver for something beside prolonging a ponzi?

Some chemical you you can resell for higher?
Do you even make simple jewelry ?
a HARD NO

Do you even buy things like food with it, some commune or circular economy. Monero has at least a internet economy presence.
And your the people who care most about them XD.
Gold is useless 99.9% the fact its a VAT free means the enemy wants you to buy this shitcoin.
Silver will probably be deficient and there is need for it. but the enemy will just make it illegal that that did hording and selling mast during covid, take it from you, shoot you, your dog, rape your wife for being a collaborator of (insert capitalist/communist/white male/phobic here).

By just growing legal mushrooms, you can generate income, dry it for a store of value, barter, and you can not starve.
But i digress, its all good, some people like pokemon cards, some like miniatures, some art, some like apple products. its ok, you just have to admit your fan and garbage horder like the rest of us. I have an issue with your store of value bullshit

Gold wieners are nice. Like the Kruggs, they have excellent fit and finish. I wish they had the smooth edges though, like their silver counterpart. The 1 oz edges are kinda wack too, since the reeding is in a pattern that doesn't feel super nice to me. Smoll wieners are cute though.

As for Chucky, He's just an old guy. He's overall pretty funny and charming as far as a globalist elite goes. I don't think he'll be king for too long either. Certainly not as long as Liz was queen - that's for sure.

Because most items' prices aren't manipulated by a global cabal of bankers dating back over a hundred years. GPUs are expensive because people buy them to put them in a computer, and when there's not enough of them, the price goes up. Gold is relatively inexpensive because people buy hundreds of fake ounces that don't exist to "invest" in gold and don't demand the physical rock in their hand right now.

This is what makes me nervous, is that this market is so ridiculously Mickey Mouse it's unpredictable. Usually in a massive economic crisis, people lose jobs, lose houses, can't pay rent, etc. We just witnessed unprecedented unemployment followed by housing doubling in cost.

It just doesn't make sense. Nothing in this Candy Land economy makes any logical sense, that's why I want to invest in things that are real. If you got into it years ago and held over the years then I'm sure you are sitting pretty. If you are trying to get into it now it is pure gambling, you might increase your holding tens of thousands tomorrow or you might lose ninety percent of what you have in it all because some celebrity put out a tik tok praising or criticizing it. Then you add in all the govs conjuring up their own CBDC in the next year or two and people being afraid they won't be able to transfer or cash out and you are likely to see it crash from people dumping their bitcoin in essentially a bank run to get theirs before there is nothing left to get.

In the short term, prices will go up. Right now a lot of people are panicking over bank failures, but I think they're mistaking some isolated instances of poor management with systemic failure. The net result is a spike in PM purchases by FOMOing whales, but this will be followed by those same folks later dumping their PMs in favor of more lucrative investments. This is when PM prices will clam down.
If prices do go up to say high 20s or into the 30s, it might be a time to dump some and wait for the drop (I know this is heresy).
It's still necessary to purchase coins that have limited runs. There is a risk of inventories of these special items depleting while you're waiting for prices to drop again. I'm buying some coins this weekend precisely for that reason.

>It was valuable when gov in the past used and forced its use as fiat today
But it wasn't forced back then. If anything, it was the opposite. Money had value when it was 'forced' as a receipt for gold. Also, it still has value. Gold has not lost its value. If you went back in time, and converted all your FIAT into gold and silver coins, you would be able to buy now pretty much what you were able to buy back then for the same cost.

Proof of work does not have value if the work is just busywork, and gold was never on it. Gold was on the scarcity standard. It's used quite a lot industrially, and the main factor limiting its use is high cost, which causes frequent substitution with inferior materials, so a decline in price would result in higher consumption. I'll now demand proof of your sea shell claim. While it is true that many of us are collectors and fan freaks, collector's value still exists alongside intrinsic value.

You underestimate autists. However, baseball cards would be very illiquid since it'd be very difficult to find the autists when the internet is down.

BTC would face inflation with some schizo fantasy of world adoption but not in the sense of conventional fiat. Even though there is a limited quantity of 21 million the markets that would embody it would likely result in a few holding the majority with the many stuck with fractional satoshis of a Bitcoin. Sure, it’s a P2P digital currency. But the problems of modern money would poison BTC like any other means of transaction. Rather than a conventional scenario of inflation, most would just see their transactions whither into smaller and smaller quantities. The belief that BTC is some godsend puts far too much faith in the new world order’s desire for monetary control.

I’ve said it again and again; world and regional governments will never relinquish fiscal control or autonomy to this independent digital currency. The tinfoil hats among us are likely correct in their beliefs that the entire crypto market is just a Jewish red herring used to justify government intervention and the transition to a “safe crypto” like CBDC. Sam Bankman Fried being one of the DNC’s largest donors is only further proof.

Fuck crypto, fuck shitcoins, fuck everything except for the timeless commodities of gold, ground, grub, and guns.

crypto nerds will seethe.

I don't understand why silver is sold at prices that are different than the spot value?

I just want to buy like 1k worth of coins so that I have an Apocalypse currency, but I can't find anything lower than 35$ an ounce/coin, even though the same website clearly says it's worth 22$ an ounce/coin.

What shenanigans is this?

Furthermore,
>In a Ponzi scheme, a con artist offers investments that promise very high returns with little or no risk to their victims.
>In reality, the business does not exist or the idea does not work in the way it is described.
>The con artist pays the high returns promised to their earlier investors by using the money obtained from later investors.
>With little or no legitimate earnings, Ponzi schemes require a constant flow of new money to survive.
Only the promise of returns with little risk applies. Metals work as described, don't require new investors, don't require any external money system at all, produce legitimate earnings through industrial use, and require nothing to survive.

By contrast, proof of work crypto is a negative sum game that consumes energy and only provides a means of performing transactions, which can be performed with countless other means that are more efficient. New investor money must constantly be pumped in to make up for the costs of operating the system, and there's no intrinsic value, so a total absence of new investors would reduce valuation to near 0.

(((Authorities))) have been manipulating the spot price of silver lower for a long time so they can accumulate cheaply. To get the spot price you'll need to join the big boy market and buy in extreme bulk. Retail plebs have to pay whatever the retail market will bear, and also pay the costs of running retail stores.

It's a commodity, not a baseball card.
It has a chart showing the price. To make money you either dig more up and sell it, or buy low sell high.
Just having some arbitrary 30% markup on a metal is asinine.
>>54207621
I find good deals in like, antique shops run by dudes who use old price chart books. But, that's like a coin here or there. I'm just looking to offload a percentage of my investments to a physical asset.

>> No.54207896

>>54207781
It's not an arbitrary markup though, that's my point. The premium accounts for all the costs associated with mining, refining, stamping/pouring, dealing and transporting the metal. The spot price is the market value of just the metal itself, premium is everything else. And while I certainly agree it's high right now, it will always exist.

You could buy directly from the mine, if you want spot price.
You won't be getting any rounds, bars, or coins though. You'll just be getting industrial silver shot.

Yes, and it's fashioned in certain ways whether it be bars, coins, art, etc. Vendors have overhead costs to think of, so unless you're buying raw ore from a miner directly, you're probably gonna pay more. Also if you're paying 30% more then you're retarded.

They won't even get shot. You're thinking of buying from a refinery. If he buys from a miner, he's getting raw silver ore.

I agree, anon. I firmly believe the mints should make the coins for free and that the mints and the dealers should come to an agreement to transport the coins for free. I also believe that the dealers should operate their businesses for free and ship coins to me for free. This just makes sense to me.

Anyone who says otherwise to the above is a paid Jewish shill who is manipulating the metals market to prop up the fiat pyramid Ponzi scheme. I know all about real capitalism, because I am a silver stacker and I clearly thought this through to my logical conclusion.

I wish it was still common but back in the day mines would sell the off cast bullion from production through their office or assay lab to anyone interested. Homestake Mines did that for decades. You can still buy gold directly from small scale miners, especially up in places like the Yukon or Alaska, but I dont know of any major mines that are willing to sell directly to the general public.

Ok, that makes sense. It's not that it's a straight scam, it's just that the markup right now is abnormally high. Or that it's that much higher because I'm looking at low quantities of mint coins.
Then what is the best way to get something like a roll of one or half ounce coins, so that I can larp as a medieval noble when the banks freeze our money for a couple months this year.
