I live in a condo in a big city (yurop) and frankly just the security issue is enough to prefer city over rural live. Like having a house in a village? It could just get robbed in the night by gypsies from Eastern Europe, for sure it would be when I'm on vacation. My condo has CCTV in the entrance and I'm on the 4th floor.

Not even mentioning the amenities of a city like fast transportation, dining choices, activities, gym. I have everything 5-10 min walk away. Maybe it's different in the US, but for Europe City live beats rural live by a thousand factors.
