Because it was too real for normies. The cold ruthlessness of the characters with hierarchical degrees of ignorance and incompetence is really what’s shown.
The Big Short was good for what it was trying to portray, but it doesn’t have the suspense that Margin Call does, which I think is more fitting. Even though they both cover a real event that fucked up the lives of billions to this day.
