Turn 35 in a few months and pretty much gave up any hope in this regard. My parents are begrudgingly accepting the reality as well. Too dead inside to really care at this point which is the only thing that does kind of bother me. As far as I'm concerned boomers and Gen X had life on ez mode. Both of them could afford to have a kid at 20 on a complete whim, both of them fell into well paying careers with no experience or education back when no one ran you through 4 round interviews and demanded 5+ years of experience and a mile long list of credentials and certificates for an entry level job.

At this point I just want to get drunk, high, enjoy my hobbies, and one day afford a home. Everything else feels like a meaningless pipe dream as I've spent my whole life watching the US just get progressively more shit and hopeless and now I'm mentally and emotionally checked out after going through so many hoops just to get a job that pays more than minimum wage.

Arranged marriages were normal across every culture for thousands of years. It was normal for parents with a decent son who was a little awkward to find other parents with a similar daughter and set them up. My grand uncle was a bachelor in his 30's and the local priest helped set him up with a 20 year old local girl who was little odd. They were happily married for 50 years. Modern society is completely fractured and nobody values marriage and kids anymore. They are too busy chasing after their Disney romance fairytale.

I would be blunt and tell them my personal and work life are separate. Coworkers can at most be friends, if it naturally happens. It's not a part of your job description to take initiative "adopting" everyone you know, and if it were, it'd be during your work hours when you are paid for it. If you make minimum wage or barely above it, it should just be an automatic response. The days of work family are over. Everything is owned by giant corporations that scrooge your hours, refuse to give time off or pay benefits, and don't do nice perks like bring your kid to work parties, gift cards, or fun little giveaways. I'm a tradie and the company owner fell into this multi level marketing cult and he now reminds us that we're family and now we have quasi mandatory company outings.
